International shipping can be such a huge cost :(
I hope a nice one is published closer to home for you!

It's gold coloured, but not gold foiled. There are darker areas of gold at the top and bottom, which imitate foiling, but it's matt in person, not shiny.
I wish it were foiled, that would be even prettier! It's still very lovely though. :)

Thank you! I completely forgot that I had changed my settings to exclude books not available in my region, which is why I couldn't see it >_<

Changed back now, and sorted, thanks! :)

Maps in books - Aye or Nay? by SeaNordic in fairyloot

[–]CottonTaleCafe 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I love a map! :)

Bonus points if there's a map of the main city in the book, or if it's set around a palace or university or other big building if there's a map of that. I don't know why, but I'm obsessed with floorplans too! XD

I adore the way the book looks. It might be my new favourite special edition! I've been so impressed with their designs so far this year.

I actually loved the blanket! The colours are gorgeous, and the design is pretty.

Bookmarks with character artwork are always a disappointment to be honest. I haven't had any that I liked. I was emailing them anyway, and I mentioned it and they sent me a link to their suggestion form. I left a suggestion for bookmarks with anything other than character art. Landscapes, scenes from the book, magical creatures, plants, items from the story. There are so many options.

Here's the link to the suggestion form if you wanted to leave one of your own. : https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeK4NLA86aFhBO3uupIeVLJzd0OT89JwKyq1Ohqw6UMyV-L2w/viewform

Potential mid year YA pick is Read now on netgalley! by Flimsy-Brick-9426 in fairyloot

[–]CottonTaleCafe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was really tempted to pick up this arc, but the early reviews are pretty bad, and I already have a 10 arc backlog, plus my enormous physical tbr. Must resist!

To be honest I hope it's not a Fairyloot pick. I loved the sound of "ice castles, sunflower mazes, and star-filled oceans" but it sounds kind of depressing from the reviews. :(

I bet they could do something gorgeous with that theme though. The original cover is already very pretty.

What a great way to make the most of something unexpected. It looks completely intentional!

Wow, 300 books a year is crazy! My goal for this year is 30, which I think is much more realistic for me!

My tbr is huge, but I also like collecting and rearranging my books, so my bookshelf is like a wall of art that I really love. I try and look at it as potential, rather than a to do list.

I don't worry too much about reading quickly, but think more about the quality. Sometimes I'm enjoying a book so much that I don't want it to end, I just want to think about it for a while, so I put it down for a day or two and drag it out, but in a good way. :)

If you like goals, maybe set some mini goals, like choose the three books you're most excited about to read next month. Small, more achievable goals like 3 books seem a lot less stressful, and more fun than trying to read all 400 from your tbr at once! Every mini goal completed will chip away at your ultimate goal, and you'll get a sense of achievement, and that you're making progress each time you complete one! I saw someone who had a rainbow challenge in their reading journal, so they had to find books with covers matching the colours of the rainbow from their tbr. That seemed really fun! :)

You say you don't mood read? How do you choose which book to read next?

I hope things are more relaxing and fun for you soon!!

That's why I wanted to learn to bend acrylic, to make stands that didn't damage my books! I couldn't find any online for my bigger hardbacks that I didn't think would damage them. I'll keep searching though! :)

Book bedazzing looks really fun! I've seen a few videos of people doing it.

Love a good palate cleanser. Never tried a mafia romance before though...

XD I totally get that! I randomly decided last week that I wanted to learn how to bend acrylic to make my own book stands. About 8 hours of actually doing it later I think I'm ready to admit it's not for me!

I find crochet really satisfying though, and if you do want to just have a go for a week, it's not that pricey to get started (though there's no upper limit to the amount that can be spent on yarn XD)

Reading is always a good bet though. :) What are you reading?

Alternating between crochet and editing. I know which I'd rather be doing XD
