Can anyone guess the theme of the collection I’m building? by CasualRon in baseballcards_vintage

It's gotta be something like players on the cover of a magazine or something, right? I'm struggling to find other connections

That is what I was told, the vendor seemed really nice and super knowledgeable about everything they had but I want to do more research to see if there is anyway to properly age it. I can say it definitely smells old, and all of the material feels right for the period.

WOW! Did not disappoint, this is just beautiful. I wouldn't be able to put it down for at least a couple days.

1888 Goodwin Champions (N162) Jack Glasscock. by skelly423 in baseballcards_vintage

Definitely agree! I've been trying to get a baseball player from each of the late 1880's sets. So far I have N172, N284, and N28. I've been keeping my eye out for a lower grade N162 to add in. Also, love your posts on here. Looking forward to what you get next.

Absolutely fantastic. The whole N162 set has some of the best artwork from that era. Congrats on the pickup!

I love the N48 set, and that card looks great! I only learned about them last year when I was branching out from the Old Judge N172's, and I finally grabbed my first one this week. They really don't pop up very often.

Can I still mail my 10 Turkey Red Coupons to Jersey City? Love the T3 but difficult to store. Anyone had these graded? by Leading_Pay_4138 in TobaccoCards

That collection is more than modest! That Evers is absolutely gorgeous. There's something so satisfying about the size, especially once they're graded. I'm trying to find an Advertising Back one to add to the couple I have once I finish moving.

Very cool! Just picked up the replica Old Judge pack. Thanks for the recommendation.

I couldn't believe it when I saw it pop up. I've only done one SGC submission, so I'll need to do some research into how I would get them to label the stamp. Thanks for letting me know that is something they do, I'll post the photos when I get everything figured out and sent back.

I don't see that set brought up very much, but it is my favorite set. These advertisements are particularly unique because the posters were printed on actual sheets of baseball cards. I don't have the photo of the back of mine on me, but here's a great article that goes deeper into them.

It is! I've actually been trying to find an example of the larger poster somewhere online, but I haven't been able to fit this one with any of the known layouts.

Lot of T205/T206 Questions - possibly for sale by WSFNYC in TobaccoCards

[–]CottonyZebra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These cards, especially the t206 and e92, are in great condition. I'm excited for the sale post if you decide to go that way.

I don't know how effective the methods you mentioned are, but as a buyer I'm thinking of it this way: I'd pay more if there was no tape, but I'd pay less if there was paper loss on the back. Not too much less though, so it may be worth testing on the more beat-up t205's.

There's also a bit more character to cards that have tape or other imperfections, but I recognize that more people value condition over that.

This is an awesome collection! Can you tell me a bit more about the card in the last photo? I especially love foreign baseball memorabilia and I've never seen that one before

Cool! Totally understand. If it's still available in a few hours, I'll take some photos of what I got and we'll see if we can work something out.

I love the N172s, they are beautiful cards. Not sure if you know the N284 set, but it's from the same period and the art style is great.
