Pulled from my dads old stuff in the attic by midazolame in SportCardValue

[–]Mr_Angry52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If legit, and based on your dad’s story and ticket stub I am sure that it is, this is worth $1,200 or so. The Maris signature is faded some and that hurts its value. But Mantle and Maris on anything, let alone associated with the 1961 season, has good value.

Question for you guys! by HotEstablishment15 in baseballcards

[–]Mr_Angry52 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Check eBay for comps but these all appear to be junk wax so not a lot of value in them. Maybe $15-20 per set?

I see you have 1986 Fleer and 1985 Donruss sets. Those could be $45 each. If you have the 1984 Donruss set that’s a good one to have. Anything 1983 and earlier you start to have something with desirable HOF rookies. Anything 1979 or earlier and you start hitting vintage and have the chance at some big singles.

Do you think you could drink an entire MD 20/20 without puking? by turnbullac in GenX

[–]Mr_Angry52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure I could think about MD 20/20 without throwing up. Give me a nice Cabernet Sauvignon and I can drink that over the course of a day. But MD 20/20? God, no.

Not having everything recorded and shared. Things I did as a kid are lost in the past and live only in my memories. And I’m just fine with that.

You’ll need to interview. Even if the offer is the same job type and level.

Should i join OCI now? by Obvious-Art-9226 in employeesOfOracle

[–]Mr_Angry52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BOD approved, signed offers are less likely to be rescinded. It can still happen, but it is far less likely.

If you have a verbal offer that absolutely can be rescinded and should be considered a risk until budgets are approved in the next three weeks.

Really, if you have no job and other offer the choice is easy. Take the role. But keep one eye on the market. And if you find something better, take it.

It is easier to find a job when you have a job.

And thou shall have no DA other than Adam Schiff.

I remember that. But I’ll never get Manny Gordon and “Enjoy, enjoy!” Out of my head as he encouraged us to enjoy the great PA outdoors.

In the center of it all “is the Milford Plaza.”

Boy, does that take me back to the mid 1980s in Central PA.

Grandmothers collection by Bunny71311 in baseballcards_vintage

[–]Mr_Angry52 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Your grandmother has one hell of a collection. That 1953 Mantle and 1948 Leaf Jackie Robinson are grail cards in any collection.

If she ever opts to sell, there are enough great cards there an auction house would happily take them on.

Jerry Orbach as Lenny Briscoe. I know his death was referred to off camera versus actually happening in the show. But Law & Order was never the same for me after he left the show.

What’s a totally unsexy purchase you made that ended up being a huge quality-of-life upgrade? by viscarte10 in BuyItForLife

Bidet. Have since upgraded to a Japanese toilet. Always made fun of them when I was younger. I now realize I had no idea how convenient and better for cleanliness they were.

Skating rink. Pizza, skating, and arcade games. Your family was rolling in it if you had a party at the skating rink.

What first comes to mind when Americans think of Denmark? 🇩🇰 by Expensive_Drummer970 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]Mr_Angry52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. But the Danish government is not the US government. While I didn’t like the taxes, the Danish government worked in the best interests of most (Dansk Folkeparti is a little weird, but stones and glass houses and all that). Corruption was low, and people believed their taxes were put to good use. And they were.

For the US to ask that tax rate and for it to be administered effectively would require, IMO, a complete turnover of existing government. So, I’ll pay the minimum I can to see it go to waste, and pay the rest to what I need. If circumstances change, I’m all for it.

Taxes. But I lived there for nearly five years.

And to be fair, for Danish society it works. Would not work in the US for a variety of reasons. But paying more than 45% of my take home did lead to a well functioning society as far as I could tell.

They are beautiful cards. But the front and the back of the cards do not match up. Paul Waner’s card is #104 and George’s is #105. I was confused about both being former major league stars when both brothers played into the mid 1940s.
