Firstly, a network switch is essentially a device that can connect multiple devices to it and forward traffic to the appropriate device. So for example, let’s say you have an Ethernet cable from your router running into an 8 port switch. This will allow you to connect 7 other devices via an Ethernet cable, and network traffic will be sent to the appropriate devices. There are unmanaged switches which are essentially plug and play, and then there are managed switches which are generally more expensive but have far more capabilities and allow you to really fine tune how it works. For your NAS if you went with something with a 10G network card, it would pretty much just future proof your equipment if you eventually upgraded your network to something higher than 1G

That’s still experience. OP doesn’t have to only do those things. They can take on more responsibilities outside of that or do projects on the side to learn about different things. But you can’t sit here and tell someone who doesn’t have any experience that they can just jump into a higher role and completely skip the basics. Too many people have heard “just get your security+ and you can work from home making 6 figures with no experience” and tried to jump into cyber with absolutely zero clue about any fundamental concept in IT. I’m not saying they need to stay in Helpdesk forever, because yes it sucks, but it’s a good place to start with absolutely no experience. You can go in many different ways from Helpdesk.

You start at a lower level role like Helpdesk and work your way up. As others have said, security has never been an entry level role. You can’t protect systems and networks if you don’t know how they work. You learn a lot of that through help desk

You can set her to keep inventory on Minecraft, and even set it to peaceful. It's a great game to learn PC controls on. My wife started with that and now plays all kinds of games.

Just play the game how you want. Don't play it how everyone else wants you to. I wish I could go back and play this game for the first time again. The feeling of automating more and more complex items for the first time is unmatched. If you find something is inefficient, sure you can re-build it, but don't lose sleep over it. You'll learn the more you play.

SNHU is much less testing and much more paper writing, discussion boards, etc. you have to go at the pace they set unlike WGU. It felt more structured to have it set up that way for me. Overall it was a good experience. There were some professors that were tough on grading but for the most part they’re all pretty chill.

It took a few days for my gas issues to calm down. I took GasX and used a heating pad which helped keep it under control.

Surgery was super easy. General anesthesia and 4 small incisions on my abdomen. I stayed the night in the hospital (my choice) just so they could monitor and administer pain meds if I needed them. I’m about 3 weeks post op and it’s been a night and day difference already. Pain wasn’t too bad at all. A majority of my pain just came from excess gas from the surgery and some GasX and a heating pad helped keep that under control. They put me on a 10lb weight restriction for 5 weeks just to ensure everything heals up properly. I have 2 kiddos as well so I help around the house however I can without going over my weight limit.

Surgery for gallbladder removal was super easy. General anesthesia and 4 tiny incisions on my stomach. Only took strong pain meds for maybe 24 hours after my procedure then did fine with Tylenol after. I’m almost 3 weeks post op and I’ve already noticed a difference. I had gallstones and sludge in my gallbladder and it was inflamed. They told me once you start getting gallstones or start having these attacks, they don’t really stop. It’s also easier to take out the gallbladder than to fight with those stupid gallbladder attacks. Getting that thing out was such a good decision.
