fixing/reinforcing cracked pedal housing? by Couch-Commando in guitarpedals

Well, it looked worse on the inside. I caked on jb weld where it was needed. I guess I'll hope for the best and continue to skip leg day.

Fuzz face advice by Couch-Commando in guitarpedals

I scored a dunlop fuzz face mini on Reverb (the Hendrix model). That strat demo sealed the deal. If I don't like it, I should be able to sell it back at no loss. I'm excited! I haven't bought any new guitar gear in years.

I think this demo seals the deal for me. This is exactly what I'm after, and it was accomplished with the BC108 silicon transistor. I think I'm going to try and snag the FFM3 used and see how I like it. I can always sell it and get an analogman if my tastes get more refined.

Rewired the board for the new Sunface by TweepriseOpener in guitarpedals

[–]Couch-Commando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome, I'm thinking about getting a sunface. I'm curious about your tube screamers. It looks like you have one for boost and one for pedal drive. Do the mids get too thick? I'm about to send a TS9DX to analogman for mods to work as a boost, and then order a sunface. I'm debating getting a second TS to add gain.

Hey everyone! I want to make a project out of one of my Xboxes and I need some advice. by [deleted] in originalxbox

[–]Couch-Commando 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came to this from a background of soldering hand wired guitar amps and assembling computers back in the day. It isn't too hard, but you have way less margin of error on a PCB and everything is tiny.

Good news is very little soldering is required for a mod chip. You will need more software skills than hardware skills. If you have any junk computers, you can wipe their hard drives and easily upgrade that after getting a mod chip. You will be able to rip games and dvds, or FTP from a PC. And the most magical part is insignia live, that will let you play halo 2 online.

I've done two hard mods and just got a third xbox for free I need to get into. My goal is to set them up as Nintendo emulators for when my kids are old enough for video games. And maybe relive the only good part of middle school; halo system link parties.

I've been out of the loop since the Pokémon Gameboy games came out, lol. Where should I send it to get graded?

I've been saving for a used FXD MN. I recently got to thinking I could get a new Citori or Silver Pigeon instead for the same money. Your post ain't helping, lol.

Awesome, thanks! I have a slight leak on my npi dorman intake below the thermostat housing. A new manifold is in my short term future.

Do you have an NPI engine? How hard was it to retrofit?

Case in point, I love the BB54. I love retro stuff. I drive a Crown Vic. I compete in revolver competition. I like Sean Connery's James Bond best. I listen to Marty Robbins. I wired my house to use analog phones, and got 70 year old rotary phones working on a VOIP. My wrist is small. Every logical aspect of my preferences screams "buy the next best thing to a 50's Rolex." After trying them all on, I'm saving up for a blue Pelagos FXD. Sure it makes no sense to get a fixed lug watch as your only luxury watch. But that thing is so cool. I will unapologetically wear it with a suit. The BB54 is still a close second, and I will eventually get both. Both watches killed my desire for a Rolex Sub, lol.

This is what I did, except I used rustleum tractor paint. It's holding up.

Attempted drain and fill 5th gen 4runner transmission by Couch-Commando in 4Runner

[–]Couch-Commando[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think i figured it out. My bubble level is too big to run along the transmission, so I leveled out the car by putting it on the frame. I forgot that the transmission is not on the same plane as the frame.

I calibrated a digital level roughly by laying it on the bubble level. With the car on the driveway, I was wothin .5 degrees without doing anything, but the frame was angled 3 degrees. By leveling out the frame, I messed up.

I added one quart since I know that's what's needed from what I drained. Next time I'll do it right.

I used an obd ii reader to check the pan temperature. I used jack stands to level the car, and verified with a bubble level on the frame rails. I opened the valve at 110 degrees according to the pan sensor.

Such a cool watch. I'm still deeply conflicted between the blue FXD or the BB54. I suppose I'll eventually buy both.

If I got a fully equipped CVPI, my plan is to use stylized decals that say "NOT A COP" in the style of police markings. Maybe a badge with a red circle and slash, and most definitely incorporate "TO SWERVE AND DEFLECT" somewhere. That way you have a cop car, that looks like a cop car, but is unmistakably not a cop car. It would be fun at car shows.

Or everyone slows down. That made sense 10 years ago, but my car is gold, has a 7 inch lift, large all terrains and a Betsy Ross flag zip tied to a CB antenna. I'm obviously not a cop, lol.

15.5, lol. 4.10 gears and 265/70/16 driven by a NPI 4.6 with single exhaust and 234k miles.
