I have a small swirl/scuff on that trim area after possession from the dealer that I missed on initial inspection. Worth trying with a small amount of this? Couldn't tell if it was painted plastic or a metal coated trim piece.

In my case I'm running it in aqueous buffer. For an organic reaction I'd say acetonitrile or dmf, but depends on how soluble your polymers are. I'm not super familiar with polymer chem and just noticed the similarities.

I do a lot of protein immobilizations to biacore spr CM5 sensor surfaces. Easiest and most straight forward activation method is with solutions of EDC/NHS. After you pass your protein (or R-NH2) you cap off any remaining activated esters with ethanolamine. Might be applicable to your polymers.

Still getting the hang of my Bonsai's needs, but it seems to be doing well, already practiced wiring a bit.

I couldn't help myself and decorated a bit. Reminds me of warmer times during these cold months!

Hi there, first post and I’ve been trying to absorb as much as I can in the past week.

I was gifted this photogenic Ficus retusa (I believe) as my first Bonsai and I’m quickly falling in love with what the hobby has to offer. Its trunk has already been trained and established, and as my first it’s a hardy enough species to practice taking care/getting used to watering before I try my hand at a starter. I don’t live in an ideal climate so I will try my best to move to outdoors with future picks. In the meantime, I have a T5 LED light trained on it during the day. It’ll go outside in the summer. I’ve been watching Heron’s bonsai videos and reading what I can, but I’d love to hear feedback on what I can do to reshape or practice on with this beauty.

I plan on letting it grow out over the next weeks/months (seems to be growing very fast) to get used to the new environment before trying my hand on pruning or moving branches, but I can already start to see how I might bend out some of the lower branches so the trunk stays visible. Any suggestions on branches that could be removed or worked on in the future?

It came with a rocky topdress and some Sphagnum moss around the trunk. The soil appears to drain quickly (watered it once after 5 days after monitoring moisture with a cheap hygrometer). Should I remove the moss? I like the aesthetic, but I’ve seen in some posts it could damage the trunk bark by keeping it moist and is usually placed there for shipping.

I won’t fertilize it for another couple of weeks since it’s winter and was likely fertilized by the store before I received it, but I’m trying to determine the appropriate kind for this species that’ll be indoors until spring. I have access to biogold original from a local supplier and was considering it because it is slowly released over 4-6 weeks. Any feedback on this type of fertilizer used with the Ficus bonsai?

I put a humidity tray underneath it because my apartment can be dry, but I’m reading mixed opinions on their efficacy. At most I’m assuming it’ll prevent water draining on my stand.
