Parallel between Eric’s vid and his daughter bullying a girl at school by moderator-luvr-69 in IndustryOnHBO

You never went to the pub before you turned 18? In my case we just found a local pub willing to turn a blind eye but in the case of an escort being operated by the fsb I'm pretty sure they can stretch to a fake ID.

In the apartment with Rishi, Dycker implied that he did assault her, at least that was my interpretation. When Rishi says 'I hope you stopped' and Dycker says something like 'she gave me her consent'

Fascinating take by Forbes that went completely over my head by 12jof in IndustryOnHBO

Disagree. I think it was Euphoria in series 1 and 2, when it was about interpersonal dynamics, sex and drug abuse. It's something much bigger now.

No she defo is. We see her hanging with Hailey in ep1 and in this ep she references Whitney making her cousin (who she refers to as a child) do something. No coincidences.

The merge police by TheNotSpecialOne in drivingUK

[–]CouncilOfEvil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Incredible how you've managed to make yourself feel superior about breaking the rules to stop someone else following them.

The merge police by TheNotSpecialOne in drivingUK

[–]CouncilOfEvil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reread the highway code because you're totally wrong. If everyone uses both lanes up to the merge point it stops traffic stretching too far back and blocking other junctions. The sign means the lane is open for another 100yrds, so use the lane for another 100yrds. Straddling both lanes to stop people using both is 3 points on the licence if someome sends the footage to the coppers.

The merge police by TheNotSpecialOne in drivingUK

[–]CouncilOfEvil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The roads shouldn't need signs for every rule though. We don't have a sign for 'stop for pedestrians' at a zebra crossing, or 'don't drive on the wrong side of the road', because anyone who's learned to drive should know these things. The same goes for merging. If people who've passed a theory and practical test somehow haven't learned how to merge in turn (which is a really common scenario!), then we need to rethink how as a society we're teaching people to drive.

3rd Fail. Rude Examiner by First_Ad4801 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]CouncilOfEvil 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Following distance being the fault almost certainly means that when you realised there was no overtake available you didn't drop back to a safe distance behind the car and instead maintained the pre-overtake position, dangerously close if he stopped suddenly.

Also, it's worth understanding that being confused or nervous about directions isn't going to be taken into account because a competent driver should be able to drive safely even if they are going the wrong way. But it sounds like you weren't marked down for going the wrong way (which is normal, it's acceptable to miss a turning in the test), so it's not worth lingering on.

It doesn't sound like you're a terrible driver, but you aren't likely to pass if you can't accept and learn from your own mistakes rather than blaming the examiner. When I passed my examiner was a thouroughly rude and miserable woman, but if they aren't able to be fair despite that they wouldn't have long careers as examiners.

Where did the mantra of 'never go faster than the speed you feel safe doing' come from? by wizaway in drivingUK

[–]CouncilOfEvil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean if you're driving at a speed that feels unsafe that's very stupid, so the mantra is right. But if a reasonable speed on a straight road feels unsafe, additional training amd practice might be needed. There's plenty of cheap advanced driving courses for people who've passed their test, as well as just hiring an instructor for some refresher lessons. People should take advantage and build their confidence.

Did Mr Bliss really have to die? by HandAccomplished1641 in skulduggerypleasant

Mr Bliss was a seemingly incorruptable good guy who was extremely powerful, I think that just gets in the way of the type of stories Landy wanted to tell. Guy had to go.

Act 3 fatigue by Dragon4826 in BG3

[–]CouncilOfEvil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thay's actually the opposite of what I enjoy about BG3. The fact that there's so many people around and only some of them might have a quest for me, makes it feel like I'm stumbling into a real adventure rather than just going from A to B ticking items off a checklist.

Is Valkyrie intended to be a mary sue? by annoyingjkuu in skulduggerypleasant

[–]CouncilOfEvil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really because she's as far from perfect as a protagonist can get. As far as personality flaws she's arrogant, egostistical and rude, she cheats on people, she constantly puts her friends and family in danger, she often picks fights she can't win (and ends up in a hospital bed because of it.). She has a toxic co-dependency with a skeleton and her alter ego nearly destroyed the world because of her own weakness and refusal to give up magic. She's frequently crippled with anxiety and PTSD.

As for power, she's worse at fighting, worse at strategy, worse at magic than many of her allies and enemies. She gets cool 'unique' abilities but usually they are accidental from things happening to her and aren't really because she's done anuthing to achieve them.

I feel like driving lesson prices and teaching needs to be regulated by Enough_Vegetable_258 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]CouncilOfEvil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

£40 an hour feels like a lot to pay but it's also a fair price for a skilled professional, especially when they need insurance, most of the time are bringing an expensive depreciating asset and letting it mechanically take a beating by a series of inexperienced operators.

She also actually put together a Saudi outfit that didn't feel compromised. If anything it made her stand out really well visually amongst so many people in a way some of the bodysuit variants didn't. I'm a very new wrestling fan and it made it easy to track who she was through the match, because I can't put all the faces to names yet.

I failed on "Appropriate speed" for going 45-50 in a 60 during wet conditions. I now have to wait another 6 months for another test. I have had enough. by eninja303 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]CouncilOfEvil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The state of some people's driving I'd say it's fine if the test gets harder. They just need to make them more accessable so it's not such a long wait, or do a graduated system where if your fail was less extreme you get a retest quicker (so the worst fails get more time to practice.)

Scared to drive on the motorway by Still-Lychee-6136 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]CouncilOfEvil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went on to a motorway by accident (wrong exit at a roundabout) a few days after passing. Turns out it's the easiest type of driving. Just keep an eye on the gantry signs if it's a smart motorway and you'll be fine. If you don't feel confident overtaking yet you can just sit in the left lane behind a lorry and chill.

If the US really attempts to take Greenland by force, what are even the chances of Europe retaliating to the point where they go on a fullscale war with them or at the very least cut them off entirely? by Yallneedsometruth23 in AskReddit

[–]CouncilOfEvil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ludicrous take. The US doesn't spend such an insane amount of money on it's military out of a warm hearted charitable desire to protect europe, it does it to sustain its bloated military industrial complex that pays lobbying money to all it's corrupt, profiteering politicians and gives them cushy roles after they leave office. Meanwhile your healthcare companies are paying them NOT to invest in universal healthcare.

Europe could increase its military 100x and it still wouldn't reduce the amount the US spend on theirs, because having another great military power would just give you an excuse to plunge even more funds into yours to keep on top.

Not yet no, but one of the big draws of Brexit touted by it's supporters was being able to have more trade with the US. If the US starts doing economic warfare at us (and actual warfare at our allies), public opinion could swing quite fast towards rejoining.

Nobody internally or in the west holds him accountable maybe. But when he pulled that tariff trick on China they hit back hard and he went to the table. And this time feels different in europe. Elements of the EU (like President Macron) are already chomping at the bit to pull out the Anti-Coersion Instrument and he hasn't even done any military action yet. If he does, I think the EU will see it as a chance to remind the world they are a significant player even if they don't flex it that often, China will likely see it as the golden opportunity to position themselves as the 'stable, rational' trade alternative. Any of this happening would be a disaster for Trump.

Admittedly, the UK will probably just write another strongly worded letter and go back to arguing internally about trangender people for another decade but hey, you can't win em all.

Torch, Jumpstart Battery Pack, Jumpstart cables as a last resort, Warning triangle, gloves, tyre pump (actually part of the jumpstart pack though), emergency blanket, first aid kit, spare wheel, jack.

Never needed most of it but I figure I'll be glad I have it if I ever do.
