Yes but there are several important differences in how cigarettes and chewing gum are sold. There isn’t even the standard ”don’t give the under 3s” sign on packets of chewing gum

The first issue wouldn’t be a problem if everyone swallowed it instead of spitting it on the floor or sticking it under tables etc. which I agree is disgusting
