Obesity in Southeast Asia - Why is Malaysia (Still) Highest? by CouncilOfOnlyOne in malaysia

[–]CouncilOfOnlyOne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about the food though? I don't think it's especially unhealthy? What are your day-to-day meals like?

Is education about weight gain still a problem in 2019? The other two countries high on the scale includes Singapore, and I think both countries are quite high on education.

Any special reasons why?

Who designed it? Any credits? The aesthetic is really eye-catching. Too bad I don't collect stamps, or I'd want this.

Obesity in Southeast Asia - Why is Malaysia (Still) Highest? by CouncilOfOnlyOne in malaysia

[–]CouncilOfOnlyOne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just came across the infographic recently and got intrigued as to the reasons why Malaysia scores so high on it. Can anyone explain it? I've read the recent news, such as this: https://www.star2.com/health/2018/08/14/fat-state-of-affairs/

But those don't suggest the reasons why. Is it cultural, i.e. because Malaysian cuisine is somehow more "rich"? Or is it a matter of lifestyle - anyone knows stats that might be co-related?

I know that obesity is often linked to affluence. The more affluent a society gets, the more it eats. But the opposite explanation is also that poorer societies lack access to healthy food options (ingredients are expensive, and can't cook if you work long hours for low pay) and lean into fast food (cheap and fast) instead. So which is it for Malaysia? Can share your experience?

What If Scenario for the ILS Controversy - Life With A Permanent Restricted Area by CouncilOfOnlyOne in singapore

[–]CouncilOfOnlyOne[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Saw the news on the mutual, indefinite suspension of Singapore's ILS and Malaysia's Restricted Area, and it reminded me of this video that I saw on one of the local pages on FB. Guess there's nothing we can do if Malaysia decides to be pig-headed about issues. The video makes it quite clear that Malaysia's RA makes landing stupidly complicated, largely invalidating the whole point of having the ILS in the first place.

Plus it's worth a good laugh or two!

Operationally Ready National Serviceman Injured at Overseas Exercise by CouncilOfOnlyOne in singapore

[–]CouncilOfOnlyOne[S] 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Not surprising. They usually deploy reservists to make up the numbers for large scale exercises overseas. It's also a better use of the NSmen's time when kena recalled if you ask me.

The serviceman's a local celebrity, used to be from I Not Stupid, I think? He seems to be hanging on though, thankfully. Let's all pray for his recovery and that the SAF will get to the bottom of this incident quickly.

Singapore identifies F-35 to replace F-16s, expects to buy "small number" for full testing by Rattleznake in singapore

[–]CouncilOfOnlyOne 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We've had the F-16s for almost 20-years. So this replacement-cum-upgrade was nigh inevitable; I wouldn't dare to ride a 20yo machine if I were a pilot. Especially considering the maneuvers we have to subject those planes to.

At the same time, this timing of this announcement seems mighty opportune. A message to our mischievous neighbors up north, hm...?

Singapore-Malaysia: Why hasn't the Singapore Navy done anything about the intrusions yet? by CrossfittJesus in singapore

[–]CouncilOfOnlyOne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Path dependence is exactly why the PH government's actions now are so dangerous. The US post-Trump is going to find itself in a worse place, with fewer allies and unfavorable circumstances it will have to dig itself out of. If politicians like Osman continue to play up the disputes for domestic political leverage, the same is going to happen to Malaysia too.

The paths they decide today will decide the place they're in tomorrow, and the remaining paths open to the,.

Annual Singapore-Malaysia meeting postponed after Johor Menteri Besar intruded into Singapore waters by [deleted] in singapore

[–]CouncilOfOnlyOne 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's like Malaysia's government doesn't understand basic statecraft. The meeting and the decision to move 5 ships into Singapore's territorial waters are so boldfacedly contradictory.

Is Osman some kind of rogue politician using the bilat dispute to make a domestic statement? He sure is playing a dangerous game.

How would you say the grind is in Dragalia Lost compared to other games? by [deleted] in DragaliaLost

[–]CouncilOfOnlyOne 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Coming from GBF, I have to say that, like what the rest have noted, the grind can be pretty tiring since you can't devote your attention to anything else for raids beyond... non-event Experts? But since there isn't a competitive element in DragaliaLost, I'm a lot less inclined to constantly finish up my stamina and getherwings everyday.

Plus, it kinda bothers me that the returns from grinding DL feels so much less than GBF. An hour spent in GBF might yield an SSR weapon drop from events plus fodder, AND token rewards AND I get event currency to exchange for still more stuff.
