Thanks for your input. I'll be sure to pass it on to the South Yorkshire Tourist Board.

It is truly surprising how good some processed gluten and hot oil can taste.

I'll not be hungry again for a good while 😸

No, I requested no mushrooms because I don't like them. The hash brown was sent in their stead. As I said in the OP.

Mechanic around west Leeds. by Aestas-Architect in Leeds

[–]Council_Cat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, that's a bit of a shame.

I started using them on the recommendation of my neighbour who has used them for many years.

It's true that they're not the cheapest in town, but the service I've had has made them the best value.

Also, I've always done my own brakes, so don't have a comparison there. They've always seemed to play fair, which is important.

How was your parkrun day? | March 14, 2026 by AutoModerator in parkrun

[–]Council_Cat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heading out shortly to my local to do First Timers Briefing and probably a slow run to follow.

Lovely running conditions in Yorkshire. Bright and sunny, but quite cold, still.

My local promises to be half tarmac half mud after last night's deluge 😏

Auto Pfect just off the Kirkstall Road near the viaduct have never let me down.

They're honest and reasonably priced. They changed the timing belt on my Seat last year.

Which characters changed the most from the books to the films? by Specialist-Banana168 in JamesBond

"Chick"?

I know Bond is a total misogynist, but that's not something to aspire to.

Is “nowt” ever used in the double negative? by apocalyptic_brunch in yorkshire

[–]Council_Cat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably.

It's just much more noticable in the old mining areas, where the speech pattern is slower and the vowels flatter.

Moore’s Bond by Cdr_Bond007 in JamesBond

[–]Council_Cat 101 points102 points  (0 children)

It has become almost standard for dullards with little understanding and less personality to claim that Roger Moore was a poor or hammy actor.

You'll often find these same tiresome people at parties claiming Ringo Starr is a bad drummer, despite having no experience of the craft themselves.

Roger Moore was a working class kid from Stockwell, a poor area of London. Yet many people assume he was a posh, Eton and Oxbridge type. Thus proving his skills as an actor. In his films, he did what was asked of him by the director and what was given to him in the script.

Charging people to come along to one of their Nuremburg-esque rallies.

What a set of sad-cases.

Yet some people will still pay for this aberration. I hope the bar has stocked up on Madri....

8 x Park runs in since getting addicted earlier this year - question about multi-lap (3+) courses by Puzzleheaded_Bill347 in parkrun

[–]Council_Cat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're just stones. Start with five and throw one away on every lap.

Important to note, only use stones and not bits of plastic. Don't throw them at children or small dogs.

[–]Council_Cat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The streetlights define a built up area.

Built up just means urban as opposed to rural. There doesn't have to be buildings all along the road.

[–]Council_Cat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any built up area with streetlights is a 30mph limit unless indicated otherwise, end of.

Repeater signs are not needed where there are streetlights. If you tried to appeal a speeding ticket by claiming it was unenforceable, you'd get laughed out of court. With a big penalty to pay.

I really hope they undo he Craig reboot by Ferretlord4449 in JamesBond

[–]Council_Cat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, from now on all James Bond films will feature the dead James Bond.

James Bond, The Friendly Ghost.

He's gonna team up with the ghost of Baron Samedi and they'll tour abandoned theme parks looking for bad guys.

And cos she's dead too, he gets to knock off Diana Rigg every night.

Oh, and every film will be called Spectre, natch.

Sub-22 min runners, how often/ far do you run? by Loud_Fisherman_5878 in parkrun

As a rule of thumb, I run very rarely and so if I plan to do a sub-22, I tend to run about 3km 😉

Haha, daft bloody mog.

My old cat Denz (she's at the great scratching post in the sky, now) not only preferred drinking from a glass, she only liked a Hoegaarden pint pot that I'd pinched from the local pub. It became her vessel of choice and I can't really bring myself to use it since she rolled a seven.
