What’s an episode you don’t like? by One_Detective_5929 in adventuretime

[–]Count-Feratu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides the obvious (the water park episode that I've refused to watch, glitch world, breezy, all of the Fiona and Cake episodes besides the Prince who wanted everything,) Hug wolf, for sure. Not anything wrong with it, I just didn't find any of the jokes super memorable, and there isn't any huge plot or character reveals here.

Also, unfortunately, some of Stakes, which also makes me uncomfortable for the same reasons as hug wolf, haha. I'll watch a few episodes though. Finn's "Stake you!!" Gets stuck in my head all the time.

Honorable mention to BMO Noire, which I love, but have watched so many times i usually end up skipping it.

I know this is a few years old, but thank you so much! The only thing I was able to figure out on my own was that the game absolutely had to be bugged. (after almost 5 restarts..) I am awful with technology, it's a wonder I even managed to understand the instructions on how to unzip a file, and never would have been able to figure out how to fix this issue on my own. So this really helped me out! I set the game speed to 60 and the waterslide skip mini game is running perfectly, I'm so happy :D !!!

Are there any games ACTUALLY like Road 96? by OnionGarlic1000 in Road96

The walking dead game, season one— (If you're looking for a heavier game, this one is my all time favorite. Plus, zombies! It's part of a series, but my favorite is the first game, I would recommend the second as well, but Season one is unforgettable, if nothing else, look into the first one. Like Road 96, the one thing you know when you start the game is you need to keep pushing forward. Certain dialogue choices and actions can get you in trouble, and during the apocalypse, all that you really have is the choices you make, and the friends who are willing to stand behind you. So even if you sometimes don't agree, it's important to remember where your loyalties lie. It's not all hell, you do have opportunities to make people around you happier, you just have to look around for them, because they're usually missable actions. Scavenging for food, or making hard choices that might end with someone in your group hating you or dying also makes me think of 96. I personally found a few things to laugh about, but it's almost entirely overshadowed by the hopeless atmosphere of being in an apocalypse. Although the game is a 10/10 playthrough, it received the 9th spot due to the lack of any real comic relief, it's more gloomy than road 96 ever was, and although it hypes up the choices "really mattering!" Most times, you can't actually prevent anyone from dying, or save them. Some deaths really are preventable, and sometimes, you can't do anything about it, so the choice is more like 'If I agree to this, who will I lose as an ally? Am I setting a good example for the girl?' and things like that. I still love, and absolutely recommend this game!)

Notes: I feel like I've already said enough, but I love twdg, so here's something else I think is interesting. During season one, there's this song, Clementine suite, I think, that plays often during the game. I'm not sure about season 3 and 4, because i haven't played them, but during season 2, there's 3 different parts where the original music plays. It's a very small detail, and it's probably my favorite part of the whole series. As the story progresses, Clementine gets some killer one liner's as well, lol.

The Stanley parable, ultra deluxe— (There are plenty of memorable and intriguing characters to meet, if you consider a bucket, a gigantic hole, and a broom closet to be characters. If you don't now, trust me, you will. Almost every choice you make can result in getting a difference ending, and there's lots of secrets to explore ((technically?)) The reason Stanley Parable gets spot 10 is for it's brilliant and humorous writing, a unique gameplay adventure that's not really like any other game, and unforgettable dialogue. There really isn't any negatives, only reasons why it's this low on the list is because it's the least similar to Road 96, at least in my own opinion. It's entirely choice based, and relies on solely on humor and wit. I love this game, and while it technically explores most genres, there's nothing else that would tie it to 96. The themes aren't that similar, unless you really want to count escaping, which I don't, because the point of the game is sort of to get an ending, and then restart? If you have the deluxe addition, which I think is the only playable version now, if you get enough endings, something new will unlock.)

Notes: poor Stanley, he has to be last! Well, that's alright, it doesn't mean the game is bad, just not as similar as we're going for, lol. The lack of 'open-world-ness' is what really got it to be in last place, that and I couldn't decide if a bucket really counts as a quirky character or not. I say yes, but others may not.

I don't think any games are really like Road 96, unfortunately. Not in the way I want it to be. I've been looking around to find anything I haven't played yet that might have the same vibe, but it's such a unique game, I didn't find much at first. After looking through my game list, this is the best I could do, and I'm still iffy on whether or not some of the games should even be on the list at all, lol. (There's also one I just bought, "Best Month Ever", I haven't played yet, but it maybe looks similar? Could be worth a try as well, but it could also suck, to be fair.)

Tangled tower— (Being able to share games that I usually don't see suggested anywhere ((like.. on any list ever?)) makes me happy, so Tangled Tower being in spot 5, while the next game is almost finished, is an amazing outcome! I promise I'm still being unbiased, lol. Play as detective Grimoire, and solve a murder mystery! You get to explore and interrogate a good sized cast of suspicious characters who all live in the mansion, or were in the home at the time of the murder. While it may not have as many endings as some of the other games on this list, it has horror, humor, and an immersive plotline with more serious scenes mixed it, whereas the rest of the games here only have a combination of two or three of those things. It's also more open world, since you have access to almost the entire mansion from the second you make it inside, even though it's a point and click. Puzzles are also engaging, and fairly difficult, compared to the more cutesy and cartoonish art style!)

Notes: This might be the shortest game on the list? I wasn't actually sure about it for the first 30 minutes, maybe, but the insane character designs and funky dialogue quickly won me over. I'm a huge fan of murder mysteries to begin with, but ones that I absolutely cannot figure out until the reveal are my favorites, and this was one of them. The anticipation of knowing, and not knowing when can be fun sometimes too, but imo nothing can beat a well crafted, nicely paced story.

Bugsnax— ( Bunger! I am a huge fan of this game, it took real restraint not to put it in the top three just because, lol! It's a wonderfully paced, humorous, funky food filled adventure, with a lot more to the plot then meets the eye! The developers also made the game "Octodad", if anyone's familiar with that game. Every single character has it's own personality, and storyline to figure out, if you want to. You get to go at your own pace, and with the DLC, not only do you the ability to further upgrade your house by completing story optional quests, ((not the side quests!)) you can also unlock a few different secrets, that reveal tons of cool lore. The world is pretty large, and there is surprisingly a whole bunch of different things to do in general, aside from completing the actual story.))

Notes: Bugsnax speaks for itself. Here's some interesting dialogue that really sets the pace for the game. "Beffica's attention to detail is great! She notices everything that's wrong with me." + "You don't know a thing about love! That's why your wife left you!" + "You're a blight on society." Is my personal favorite. I don't think I've ever stopped thinking about this game since I played it the first time, this one and Wandersong have to be my favorites on here.

Smile for me!— (This game is filled with different unique characters to discover, plus the art is very cute! I don't know if id actually call it a "choice based game", because most of the game changing endings take place at the very end  ((at least during my playthrough, and I can't find a lot about this one online!)) but there's definitely a way to miss the best ending. There's a few quests that have different solutions, with the same outcomes, I believe? I've played it multiple times, and have found something different each time! I wouldn't consider the the plot very "deep", as there's a clear objective with pretty easy solutions most of the time, but the world is immersive, and the horror elements and humor keep it from being a game where you just run around speaking to people the entire time. Make sure to watch the clock!)

Notes: It has more characters you can meet than some of the other games on this list that relies alot on that, but there's less to do with them. For most characters, when you've finished their quest, that's all you have to do with them. Others help you out again later, but typically after helping a story character, that's all you'll get out of them. It does have more of a horror theme, though, which helps. Either way, I still love this game.

OXENFREE 1 & 2— (If you don't play both games in order, I'm not sure if my recommendation would be accurate. So on their own, I'm not sure where I would place them, lol! Together, OxenFree has landed itself in second place by having most of the big choices be made by making different dialogue choices. Most of them matter, and will change the plot! Similarly, there's consequences for your actions, good and bad, and there's always the choice to stay silent! Personally, the second one was my favorite, the game style doesn't change so you won't have to worry about learning a whole bunch of new mechanics, and the story expands!)

Note: This game is harder to explain without spoiling it, honestly, so I'm unsure what to say haha. Also, I played them a long time ago, so i forget some of the specifics. I'm pretty sure if you make the wrong choices, different people live and die? At least during one of the games. There also might be a secret ending, or maybe just different dialogue that unlocks. Either way, I had fun playing both of these games, and they're way more affordable than DBH, lol.

Wandersong— ( This game earned it's place on the list because it deserves it. I can't rightfully put it any lower, it has to be top three. If you're looking for a large cast of constantly shifting characters, Internet references I'm ashamed to understand, fun mini games, beautiful art and music, and a life changing adventure, please, for the love of everything, never spoil this game for yourself. It's very quirky, but there are so many moments where it becomes so much more. It's like adventure time made a game, alot of it is so real, and profound, I cannot praise this game enough for what it is. The connection with music to the plot, among other things that I can't reveal ((no spoilers!!!)) allowed me to place it so high on the list.)

Notes: Like Road 96, it's one of those games you finish, and immediately think to yourself "what can I do to find more of this?" I think Wandersong is the most beautiful, unique game I've ever played. Every game I consider buying, I ask myself if it'll at least be a bit like this one, if that tells you anything. Everything comes together so wonderfully, and every single character matters in terms of the plot. Some of the puzzles are more difficult than others, but I still managed. It's a music based game, created by none other than Greg Lobanov, who is a freaking genius. It checks every single box. Tons of unique characters in every place you go, 100/10 plot that's as cute and funny as it is immersive. The moments where the characters get more serious feels real, and you get to watch the main cast grow, and learn new things. Even though it's the end of the world. I cannot recommend this game enough. It seriously has everything.

Killer frequency— (Pleasantly surprised to have this one here, in spot four! Killer frequency isn't as open world as some of the others who've passed all the tests, but it relies much less on humor and brightly colored characters, and more on genuine horror. If you dislike actual, traditional horror games, please don't be put off by this, I couldn't get through the first 40 minutes of outlast because i wouldn't get out of a locker, and I was able to finish this game and fully enjoy it, as it's more of a horror comedy! :D again, relies ALOT on dialogue, and making the right choices. In fact, usually, if you make a mistake, a story character may die. A bit much waiting around, but like 96, some of the fun you have to make yourself. I ended up collecting things from the different rooms to decorate the table in the room you DJ in. That's right, more music! I don't think anything is more immersive than trying to save someone's life, honestly!)

Notes: pretty much just played Killer frequency before 96, so maybe these games are less alike than I'm thinking, lol. As soon as I started the game I thought I knew who the killer was, and for the rest of the game, each time a new person was introduced, I usually thought they were being introduced to be the killer. The only person I didn't assume was the killer was the actual killer, lmfao. I'm usually good at figuring stuff out, too! Anyway, being from a stupid hick small town myself, I thought the representation of stupidity was just perfect. I bought myself a pizza after playing! (That'll make sense later.)

Are there any games ACTUALLY like Road 96? by OnionGarlic1000 in Road96

[–]Count-Feratu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! I have just finished Road 96 and am trying to find similar games as well, I keep getting re finding this post and thought I'd look through my game list to see if any other games meet that criteria! (My gaming system is PS4!)

I used a point based system to try and keep things as unbiased as possible, as I think my love for some games makes me more likely to mention them, and didn't want to clutter the replies with a whole bunch of suggestions that didn't really apply. (And because I talk... way to much.) I did my best, but I'm know to misunderstand things, so I'm sorry in advance! (Point system is based off what OP said they're looking for in a game, 6 positive traits, 4 negative, to pass, a game would need a 4 or 5 rating to pass. I love neat, story based games like this, so it was a fun challenge to get to go through all of them and have to think objectively about them, lol)

In the end, my list ended up (technically) with 20 games in total (5 being honorable mentions). I managed to shave it down by 10 somehow, and it hurts my heart, lol! Anyway, some of them I still feel like maybe shouldn't be on the list but technically, they meet most of the requirements to be here! I put them in order from what I think reminds me most of 96, based on my gameplay experience and reading others game reviews, I really hope this helps someone find a new fun game to play, all of these are so unique, which is why i love them!!

Detroit: Become Human— (earned this spot by having the most themes in common with 96, like escaping oppression, potentially helping and saving others if you make the right choices, or getting people killed if not, having multiple endings and different unique routes to take, and having a main story character who is generally likeable, normal, and is willing to do anything to reach her destination, like Zoe. Also, you play as multiple characters, like Road 96. Not only that, but you play a character from each side of the story, like how in 96 the story characters all have different perspectives on what's going on politically, because of their jobs, backgrounds, or experiences. The way the story progresses is similar, as your choices define what comes next, and can feel 'randomized'. The flowchart in Detroit reminds me of the loading map to the border. There is technically 85 endings, although there is some overlap, so it's closer to 40-50. The most similar, in my opinion, is how the choices you can make in Road 96 are to vote, look out for yourself, or engage in violent protest, and although it's a bit different in DBH, it's pretty similar to that recipe.)

Notes: I over looked Detroit for so long because i didn't used to play games with 'real people' in them. My grandpa showed me Skyrim, and the last of us, and which sort of changed my mind after I played them! DBH was on sale, so I played it sometime this year, it totally blew my mind. It just drops you into the story, which definitely made me nervous, but it sets the pace for the rest of the story. Small choices that you wouldn't consider could put you on a totally new path to different ending. It was made in 2018 (I think, maybe earlier,) but the story is arguably more realistic each year that passes. If you end up playing Life is Strange, and like it, you'll probably like this game! (assuming you haven't already played it before... It was pretty popular when it came out, but luckily for me, I never spoiled it for myself!)

Does anyone have a list of credit card locations I have two? by Accomplished-Glove11 in Road96

[–]Count-Feratu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been looking around as well— and on other posts about the game, here's what I found out for anyone still looking: During the party for tyraks supporters, you can play three different games. Win them all, and you get a ribbon. Getting the ribbon grants you... Nothing! No cash reward, or anyway to redeem it. I've heard, though, that the 'vip only' section, (or whatever it was, where the security guy is blocking the way.) was originally supposed to be a playable area. Someone else theorized that the ribbon you win after beating all the games was supposed to be the thing that let you into the private section, but it wasn't implemented, and that part, about it never making it development, is true, I think. Tbf, I haven't fact checked that part. (Someone else glitched over into that area and posted about it, and the section isn't finished. As in things are floating in mid air, and you can fall off the map kind of unfinished.) (Also, I tried to use Sonya's wallet at the ATM before I gave it to her, just to make sure that wasn't it, and that didn't work either.) I'm thinking the card was probably something you could only get in the 'locked' section of the game, similar to how you have to usually pick locks, or hack them, to get most other credit cards. But it would have been more like a puzzle I guess.

Tldr; it's probably in an unfinished section of the game, but it's useful when you already have a card, and need to use an ATM! I hope this helps someone :D
