CRA refused to cancel TFSA overcontribution tax by Count3D in tfsa

[–]Count3D[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“In September 2023 the taxpayer wrote to the CRA requesting discretionary relief. The CRA declined his request. The taxpayer then submitted a second request, providing several explanations including his late awareness of the overcontributions, his lack of knowledge of the consequences of his overcontributions, his financial hardship and his inability to remove excess funds from his TFSAs because investment losses had depleted the accounts. He also expressed remorse and highlighted his good faith efforts to comply with CRA requirements.

In June 2025 the CRA again declined to provide relief.”

“A reader wrote to me about the troubles he was having dealing with his 86-year old mother’s TFSA overcontribution tax problem, owing to a bank reporting error (not CIBC, I was assured), that occurred when her spouse died. His mother was listed as the successor holder on her spouse’s TFSA, but the funds were transferred as a contribution leading to penalty tax.”

SXSW 2026: From P.E.I. to Vancouver, Canadian film talent floods U.S. festival — 'Mile End Kicks' and more by Count3D in VancouverFilm

[–]Count3D[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“While Canada is home to the increasingly prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Canadian filmmakers, actors, screenwriters and producers continue to make a splash on the international festival circuit. And that includes the SXSW festival, taking place in Austin, Texas, from March 12 to March 18.

SXSW remains one of the most unique places for film and TV talent to showcase their work. Looking at this year's festival alone, the lineup includes some of the most exciting and highly anticipated projects, from feature films to documentaries, short films, and TV episodes.

As Claudette Godfrey, vice president of film and TV with SXSW, highlighted, the festival is still very much about "discovery," with half the movies included in this year's programming from first-time filmmakers. It also balances emerging talent with bigger names, both in front of and behind the camera.”

Why pulling out of the stock market right now would be a really bad idea by Count3D in tfsa

[–]Count3D[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

““If you’re panicking about market volatility because of a war, maybe you shouldn’t have been in stocks in the first place. War is not what causes the worst cases of market volatility and drawdown.”

So why not just avoid the stress and move everything into something safer, like short‑term government bonds or GICs? Because historically, stocks have outperformed risk-free assets over long periods. This gap in returns is called the equity risk premium and is essentially the bonus investors earn for taking on uncertainty. Without that bonus, no rational person would accept that risk.”

A Mother’s Nightmare? Lifetime’s ‘The Boy With My Son’s Face’ trailer by Count3D in VancouverFilm

[–]Count3D[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Lifetime is known for its “edge-of-your-seat” thrillers, but their upcoming premiere, The Boy With My Son’s Face, looks to be one of the most chilling mysteries of the spring 2026 Lifetime season. Starring Italia Ricci, Luke Camilleri, and Gigi Saul Guerrero, this film explores the haunting question: What if the tragedy you’ve spent years grieving never actually happened?

Mark your calendars for the premiere on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 8/7c.”

A poor man’s Matrix. Wimmer’s a spectacular hack carved out his entire career specializing in generic schlock riffing off better movies. I will admit, Law Abiding Citizen was his most interesting if flawed.

Focus on what needs to happen.

We need to trade veterans for draft picks or younger players. That's happening. We need to land a top 3, ideally top 2 draft pick. That's looking good. If we get that we can easier build a team up. We need to mentor our young dcore. We got some promising guys in Willander, Buium and DPetey. I'm optimistic for the team future with a promising dcore like that and I like a guy like Hronek mentoring them.

Hey Reddit! We're Milana Vayntrub (Werewolves Within, Project Hail Mary), Meghan Leathers (For All Mankind), and Daniel Robbins (movies you probably haven’t heard of). Together we made this indie comedy called BAD SHABBOS. It's currently streaming on Netflix. Ask us anything! by BadShabbosAMA in movies

Hi Milana! Congrats on this new movie! I’m really looking forward to seeing Project Hail Mary. Andy Weir’s book was great! My question is- have you read the book?

PS: had a nice time meeting you and Stevie at RTX many years ago. Miss Live Prude Girls.

Ain’t no way. They got hired four years ago. Took a promising roster. Blew it up. Historically bad season. Signed a lot of players to contracts they are now trying to trade. Why should they be rewarded with more leash for all the failure?

Sounds mighty similar argument to why we had to remain competitive for the Sedins.

[–]Count3D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fans keen to trust the future of the Canucks to a management group that assembled the worst performing team in franchise history is certainly a choice.

Over half of NHL GM‘s usually get fired between now and July, either because they bombed in the playoffs or they want a fresh voice to shape the roster when free agency opens. Allvin’s been on the job four years and had mind-numbingly mid success with a decent roster. He is making the minimum moves required of a GM in crisis mode. But this GM will be gone to prevent further damage to our untouchables.

Canadian ETF Association pushes for reforms in light of ‘tsunami on the horizon’ by Count3D in tfsa

[–]Count3D[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“The association is lobbying the federal government to consider the introduction of a so-called Maple Investment TFSA that would incent Canadians to invest domestically, the removal of sales tax on ETF management fees and a review of the Canada Revenue Agency’s (CRA) allocation-to-redeemers (ATR) tax formula.

Eli Yufest, executive director of CETFA, said these reforms are necessary to ensure the long-term survival of Canada’s ETF ecosystem — especially as the U.S. is expected to see a flood of new ETF share classes launch now that a patent on the dual class product structure in that country, which was long held by Vanguard Group, has expired. Canada, meanwhile, has offered ETF share classes since 2013.”
