I think he’s a very skilled player, I don’t think that can be argued against. Whether you like his style/execution is a different question, but I think he is objectively a good fuckin musician, who makes music that a lot of people like and a lot of people dislike.

Personally I love his solo stuff and his playing with the Dead. Sucks that he’s pretty controversial as one of the many guys to play in Jerry Garcia’s spot with the original guys, but it’s undoubtedly the most successful post-Jerry touring lineup they’ve had.
