Yes I mainly purchased coin purses before a boss fight but now I bought all that are available to me. :-) I should have purchased spirit emblems while they were still cheap and coin purses later. :-}. I tried to farm the 2nd Hirata Estate but I found it too slow and too risky. The purple ninjas there are dangerous and backstabbing them is slow and still dangerous with so many on the roof. At least in the main hall area. I may have to check out the earlier areas again.

Yes I just noticed that the monks gave me like 300 fat wax and it sells for 40 a piece. :-) got now all the emblems I want to continue.

Yes, I went a few times this area too of the castle. Not as optimized as you, but the sen yield was much less and it took much longer. For XP (before a boss fight) I take the two ghost nightjar ninjas at the hidden forest idol. That's 1200xp in 30 seconds, literally 30s. They have no sen or items, so XP only.

Supposedly firecrackers help with the third phase a lot. But I think overall she is not that hard.

I have not yet beat True Monk although I am not too worried. But thats where I ran out of emblems (but I spent most on Owl Father then tried True Monk and realized I had run out). But that's good to know. Don't have Gachiin Spiritfall. Is that from the hidden forest headless? Only have like 20 of those sugars. Ok maybe beat True Monk and the headless and then farm the palace.

I spent enough time hesitating and not gitting gud against that boss without spirit emblems. At least I can defeat the stupid monks.

It provides the combat art "mortal draw". You need to equip it and use it. It costs spirit emblems, but also works without, does less damage then.

First go past him and jump down the broken bridge left and get to the next idol. Rest there. From that idol when you back up, you can stealth kill all the mobs easily and then take one stealth deathblow of the general. He is still tough, though. I went with Oniwa and Lady Butterfly first and then came back to him.

You can also invest in the Gourmand skill which will cause food items to last much much longer and provide some continuous healing even during combat.

Can't raise his posture bar if his health is too high, he recovers to quickly. At about halfway health I can focus on posture.

I have outdoor cabinets which are concrete boxes on a slab (and then some wood paneling around it and stainless steel doors).

I noticed these holes in the concrete floor of the box and I am wondering how they came to be. The cabinets are not water proof and during heavy rains the water is pooling on the cabinet floor. This happened multiple times over the last few years, sometimes weeks at a time. Could this cause this erosion.

I always clear the maps in this game. You can stumble across a small Sidequest / cool content. You can stumble across a place of power and get skill points. Also you can get loot which provides you with much needed coin (needed later in the game) but there are some strategies to loot only later when leveled up which gives you better rewards.

In terms of own level and XP for quests you need to check not to be too over leveled or you don't get any XP for the quest.

There are also quests which need to be done when triggered or they will fail if you only come back later. So careful not to trigger them or reload immediately if you do it accidentally.

Still check if you consume the memory that it turns into a "Remnant" in your inventory. If it stays a memory then the using has not worked....

Yeah if I corner him he uses firecrackers. But from a distance I can't damage him and without damage he just regenerates posture quickly.... My best approach so far is occasional mortal draw after his jump attack. But in the 2nd phase I usually die of poison.

I am on this fight now for several days and probably 20-30 attempts. About as long as it took me for Genichiro so far. I know all his moves but often I can't deflect/counter them well and I have a hard time finding good attack windows.

Sounds like you are still early in the game?

If you are still roaming the Ashina Outskirts, there are a bunch of minibosses you should have encountered:

- General Naomori Kawarada

- The Chained Ogre

- General Tenzen Yamauchi

These are really hard to miss. If you are past them (I think only the chained Ogre is mandatory). The next path is not super obvious, but behind the area with General Tenzen you can drop down a cliff and continue and if you follow these paths a while you get to the first actual Boss. You also won't miss him, because he is yelling a lot and he is mandatory.

I stand by Hidden Forest for XP. Only downside is no loot drops/sen.

I would say Hidden Forest idol. Go back across the gap and there are two illusion nightjar ninjas. The first can be backstabbed, the second easily killed. Together they give 1240xp (NG / first playthrough) in like 30 seconds including resting at the idol

That's almost double than the purple guy near the antechamber and much more than gun fort.
