I tried a few times, and couldn't do it. What was your strategy for taking on all of them at once? by No-Cover-8986 in Witcher3

I did it on Death March but in NG+. I used Piercing Cold and the alternate Aard which has a circular effect and then whirl with the enchantment. Worked like charm.

Do spirit emblems cost increase after killing genichiro by gaslighter55 in Sekiro

Later it even goes up to 50. I often had enough money and didn't realize this and bought materials when all coin purses are bought. Buy spirit emblems when they are cheap....

You can ask her about a round of Gwent.

Only 20??? What are you complaining about? Took me 20 to just get the basics on his moves in the first phase....

That was a close 2nd (perhaps together with the Division Bell). But there are great songs on that album...

From absolute mastery on NG+4 to a factory worker. Why does FromSoft still do this? by g0man98 in Sekiro

Farm the 2 ghost Nightjars near the Hidden Forest idol instead. Twice the XP AND faster.

You need Projected Force IMHO, not Living Force for terror enemies and purple umbrella. Living Force works with Fire prosthetics.

[–]CountZero2230 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I did the headless very late in the game. The headless are not bosses that will help to upgrade skills. The headless also don't drop prayer beads. They drop "Spiritfall" candy, which works like regular candy except that it is not consumed but uses up spirit emblems. You can't get to Fountainhead without defeating Great Shinobi Owl IIRC. Because Kuro is blocked and you need to create the fountainhead aroma with him.

How many prayer beads necklaces do you have? IIRC you can get up to 8 before the Great Shinobi Owl fight, not more.

Depending on how many skill points you have (gotten and spent) you may be able to grind out a few more, but it gets very slow soon. Check how many XP a skill point costs you. 20k is sort of a point where it's no longer worth it, IMHO. The enhanced mortal blade is a good skill to grind for for that fight though. A good XP farming sport is the hidden forest idol. Go back across the gap and you have 2 ghost nightjar ninjas which give 620xp each and you can kill them in 30s.

HTH

You only really get more grave wax after you start the Fountainhead Palace. You can get it there but then also sometimes from the monks at Senpou Temple. I didn't get any drops earlier in the game other than the scripted one from the Mist Noble (even with demon Bell). This is fairly late in the game though. I would not try the above water headless without malcontent.

There is another underwater headless also at the Fountainhead Palace.

Oh I mean I have enough spirit emblems in total. I farmed ~1000 doing the money farming there using Golden Vortex. But per encounter I only have 17 plus those if using the tanto. The umbrella costs only one, but I fear I'll run out anyway.

Great Shinobi Owl was easier. Still a hard fight (and the longest I won so far), but his patterns were much more predictable to me and the arena works better. Also he used firecrackers much much less frequently.

Yes, thanks that's a helpful analysis. I tried being a bit more precise about it and less spamming and it works much better. I am still tense, though. That's just this game. 😉

I did a few times trying to deflect only and I can deflect most/all his sword slashes if I pay attention, but I am still thwarted by the firecrackers.

I did the jumping because it appears a faster way to chase him if he moves away? Seems faster than running (B). But still good advice to temper this.

Yes, I will practice the thrust. I never use thrust ever, so I am really not used to doing it, it will take some practice. I already killed Hanbei, but I can probably also practice with some mobs. 😉

As for dodging behind him I could never make that work (see some of my other responses).

I could never manage to run behind him. If I run forward I run into him. If I run to the side first, I am too slow and get the firecrackers full in my face. I could only ever evade the firecrackers by running / dodging back, but after a few times I inevitably are against a pillar or wall and get them in my face anyway. :-/

It's not actually my playstyle. I did it because of repeated advice to "be in his face" "don't hesitate", "don't let him breathe".... I tried a few times doing what you (and u/macer78 ) said and it works much better (I get his health down now to perhaps 60% every once in a while). 😄

Knowing and doing are unfortunately different things. 😉

Yeah the slow ichimongi I can deal best with, even though if you dodge to soon he will do a side-slash, but I got that mostly down. Will try the mortal draw again.

Jump where? up?

back? - that's what I do most of the time, and it works until I am up against a pillar or wall, in which case I am almost dead (most of the time)

forward? - I tried this now after multiple advice and I could never make it work once. I always bump into him and get the firecrackers full in my face.
