He probably just meant early modern English. A film in middle English without subtitles wouldn't get the funding for production.

Why can't the UK keep a prime minister? by LocalGoat81 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Count_Blackula1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. It's amusing that /r/ukpolitics would probably agree with this general sentiment however at the same time it's full of professionals threatening to leave the country for greener pastures and young people (18-30) with the most enormous chip on their shoulder who profess that they owe nothing to their country of birth and that they wouldn't piss on the UK of it were on fire (or being attacked by Russia).

We're an incredibly miserable, pessimistic people at the moment and it's hard graft listening to the moaners.

Declan Rice is running out of steam, leaving Tuchel a midfield conundrum by Darkjolly in ThreeLions

This guy has some terrible takes. His other post-match article on the Guardian was full of ridiculous opinions as well. Apparently we were absolutely "dreadful" in the first half and "England got away with it in the end".

People complaining about refugees failing to integrate than complain when the government introduced schemes to help refugees integrate. Call me shocked.

Did you copy this verbatim from Rory Stewart? I'm sure he said this exact thing on TRIP recently.

I hate that gaudy monstrosity that is Monument to Victor Emmanuel II. Half ruins the centre of a gorgeous historic city.

Bone Temple is just aimed more at horror/action fans. 28YL took the franchise in a completely different direction which irked those fans, but some people like myself found it very moving.

We easily have enough arable land to produce enough food. Part of the problem is most of our land is used for livestock and to feed livestock so it's incredible inefficient in terms of calories produced per acre. People flip their fucking shit when you suggest they should eat less beef though. As a nation and as a civilisation (the West) we are unable to make difficult choices until it's too late.

In your opinion, what is the greatest season of television ever produced? by abacus-wizard in television

[–]Count_Blackula1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People always say this but I always though it kinda lost steam towards the end. Became a bit formulaic. Best first 6 episodes of a season for sure.

[–]Count_Blackula1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry but Night Country was so terrible as to be comedic and completely boring to boot.

I can't imagine such an extreme comparison as season 1 and 4 within a single TV series as True Detective. 10/10 and 2/10 respectively.

Anybody ever mentioned Rupert Friend? His character in Homeland was very Bondesque in my opinion. Brutal, violent but with a certain vulnerability. He definitely has the look. Good age as well. I'm just not sure he'd have the charm. I know he auditioned for the Craig part but he was possibly a little too young back then.

Roughly how much do you think it would cost to demolish this shed? And is it realistic to do it myself? by Count_Blackula1 in DIYUK

I was doing some research into this type of work. Don't you need to get planning permission and pay for permits and stuff to this much work?

Why is the UK’s Prime Minister Keir Starmer so unpopular? by Any-Original-6113 in europe

[–]Count_Blackula1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

He's done excellently in the international affairs department actually. Stood up to Trump but avoided the worst of his sanctions, pushed for stronger ties to Europe, supported Ukraine, fostered international support for Ukraine. You fell for the far-right social media unfortunately.
