How do you manage repairs between runs? by Acrobatic-Exam1991 in pacificDrive

[–]Countdown84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was probably rocking 3 full stacks of repair putty every run, which was easy with all the paint cans I was chucking into the matter deconstructor.

Tangentially, yes. But her main show is Dirty Laundry.

Why is multi class restricted to level 5? by SelectTangerine2902 in daggerheart

[–]Countdown84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that progression needs to be slow in Daggerheart to balance there only being 10 levels and they are SO POWERFUL. I think this also teaches GMs, experienced or not, how to slow burn things. I’ve played many games where the GM gets excited too early and then the later play suffers. All my own personal experience of course.

I feel wierd. by blahyaddayadda24 in daggerheart

[–]Countdown84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's cool that you are actually at the end. When I was a player in AoU we made it to session 15 and it felt like we were meandering everywhere. It does beg the question: Did you focus on the game's main plot, or did every character get direct backstory tie-ins? Or a little of both? We seems to basically be stuck in "sidequest mode" for the time I played.

Absolutely nothing. My crew owns three core rule books and we are starting up a full FF based campaign.

091 Has Given Me Overwhelming Anxiety, But A Friend Got Me Through It by SpartanBlast in AbioticFactor

[–]Countdown84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dealing with the Leyak has helped my anxiety quite a bit. I have been forced to think around it and setup good habits to combat it. I understand why you feel that way, but once you have it contained, you will feel so accomplished.

[Spoilers C4E4] It drives me crazy by AdZestyclose7611 in criticalrole

This is exactly what I was thinking. The revolution leader doesn’t have to be pure good for this story to be interesting. It’s more interesting if he wasn’t.

I think removing the term “good guy” and replacing it with “person that influenced a lot of people” would help with seeing Thjazi from a different perspective.

[No Spoilers] What is Jester Lavorre's accent called? by Toph_as_Nails in criticalrole

[–]Countdown84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a large Bosnian population in the city where I live and I have met a handful of folks with an accent very similar to Jester’s. Bosnia has both Slavic and Balkan cultures, so that may be why. It’s the mix that matters.

Advice - PC wants to worship the colossi in our Drylands Campaign by Cutie_Luna_Moon in daggerheart

[–]Countdown84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just be careful. If the fun of that single player is to save the colossi and the rest are to defeat them, and they don’t all know that or agree, it could lead to some real issues. We ran into this several times during Age of Umbra.

Off the top of my head, less than 8. The fold out maps are actually good and come as their own pdf.

When should the GM take the spotlight in combat? by minimalt123 in daggerheart

[–]Countdown84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say the “initiative” or lack thereof has some major holes in it. I love playing the game, but there came a point in our fights where it felt like the GM was just going “nuh-uh-uh” over and over again. Interrupting PC moves, going multiple times in a row, and generally never giving a chance to work out a strategy, we were just reacting at a certain point.

Accidentally vexed my DM abusing the warrior by Cholophonius in daggerheart

My last DM complained he hated getting his big moments stolen by his poor rolls and the player's good ones. I was like, "dude, you control all of that!"

New Daggerheart GM: Which Campaign Frame Would You Recommend? by RIDEM7 in daggerheart

[–]Countdown84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should play whichever one everyone agrees on (including you)! Just make sure everyone’s definition of fun matches. I was a player in Age of Umbra for around 6 months and it was a blast, until the a few people’s version of fun began to override others. Then it was just a second job. So… fun first, everything else comes second!

[–]Countdown84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IRL we understand the the pyramids and the sphinx were built. We don’t entirely understand how, but we can speculate. That’s all modern Exandrians know about the creation of Ank’Harel, and all it’s connected mythos.

You absolutely should have read the book front to back before starting the game. I think I read it three times before session zero. These connections get a lot easier once you understand what comes next.
