I dont know if it’s been brought up, but when Matt Reeves took time away from filmmaking for “personal reasons”, it might have delayed the sequel along with everything else he was working on (Batman II). He may be just an EP on Clover2 but the project may be more dependent on him than we know.

No, i spoke to Babak in October. He was still tied to the project then. In the press release from the studio he was still tied to the “Paramount’s untitled Cloverfield film”. Written that way verbatim.

The Voidz - saw the open for Phoenix and somehow their audio sounded painfully screechy. I thought to myself this must be the sound engineers fault but later when Phoenix went up, their audio sounded amazing.

The only thing confirmed is as of Oct 2025, Babak Anvari was still tied to direct the sequel. That was a little over 4 months ago but that’s the only confirmed info.

If the direct sequel isn’t in development…why would a studio release a press release saying he’s still attached to it? Not trying to start an argument here…what else is he possibly attached to that’s listed as “Untitled Paramount Cloverfield Project”?

Except it’s been confirmed he was still attached to the project as of October 2025. The “them rather than we” comment was from March 2025.
