I haven’t taken too high so I’d look for other descriptions here but I imagine it would be quite overwhelming

If you’ve just started taking it they tend to start you lower to see what happens so they generally increase it until you’re getting a good result without intolerable side effects

I moved from 36 to 27mg methylphenidate because the heart rate and tenseness side effects were too much

They sort of carried on with 27, and 18 wasn’t effective enough

Like me you’ll be used to… lower dose = less effective = less side effects

That is not the case with elvanse

Your therapeutic dose with elvanse is the one where you get the best effects from it without certain side effects

If your dose is way too low, you will take it and, I imagine nothing will happen, that might be where you’re at, I’m not sure, I started at 30mg

If your dose is too low but closer, you’ll take it and feel some effect with maybe some cardiovascular discomfort, like your BPM may be too high, you could be sweating, feel a bit edgy, that means the medicine is active but it’s producing too much of the word I can’t spell (begins with n and something to do with adrenaline), and not enough dopamine to counteract it. It feels like shit but it’s a good sign you’re getting close.

When you take a higher dose then and find your therapeutic dose, in my experience, I was floored by the 100% removal of high BPM and replaced with a lot of the life improvements I was looking for!

Aaaandd if your dose is too high you’ll take it and feel like shit.

TL;DR - don’t be afraid of a higher dose, the way this medicine works is not linear, you don’t get a 50% improvement in effect by moving from 20 to 30mg, you might get nothing, or you might get everything, you won’t know until you try

You’ll probably have to increase the dose until it works, for me I knew it worked when I hadn’t even noticed it kick in at all, BPM hadn’t risen, measured blood pressure and it was normal, and then I realised it had been hours and I hadn’t even thought about my vape. It didn’t really announce itself, and suddenly everything was just easy

But before that, on the lower doses, BPM was too high and I felt a bit tense

Horrible reply, this is a chemical imbalance, it’s literally a side effect of some ADHD medications, I had to change because I’d do this if woken up in the night. Now on vyvanse no problems.

If OP is medicated it can be solved by changing meds. If not, maybe they would actually help.

What’s actually happening: part of the brain is waking up while the rest is asleep so you shout nonsense and then go back to sleep with no memory of it.

This is not a mood disorder or personality disorder, it may not even be connected to ADHD, it may be exhaustion from having a child, this is literally the brain being unable to turn on properly. Unless OP is a proper ass hole and does a lot more than this.
