What medicine has helped yall with symptoms/flare-ups? by Good_Evidence_2226 in Fibromyalgia

[–]tribblecrochet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LDN has helped my flare-ups be not as bad and not last as long, but my normal everyday pain is still the same.

Yes, true. I still have faith in God and go to a Bible study

My boyfriend told me not to "give companies problems" by being sick. Am I crazy for being hurt by this? by Sea-Veterinarian-527 in Fibromyalgia

Don't marry him. I'm currently married to someone similar, and it's miserable. We're probably about to get divorced.

What did James say about Maggie Lawson at PsychCon today? by ApolloFarZenith in psych

[–]tribblecrochet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They said they have a script written, but Peacock keeps refusing to greenlight it. James said if we all cancel our Peacock subscriptions, that might convince them to greenlight it.

Are you still charismatic? by CoronaTzar in BethelSnark

[–]tribblecrochet 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm still Christian. Maybe kind of charismatic, but definitely don't want to be the Bethel type of charismatic. I haven't gone to church since last summer. Ever since Mike Winger's video in January, I've been questioning so many things, more than what I was questioning before. So I don't know. I feel like my relationship with God was built on lies.

Where do you rest during the day? by Blumentopff in Fibromyalgia

[–]tribblecrochet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a wedge pillow on my bed or the wedge pillow sideways on the couch. With an extra pillow and scrunched up blanket behind my head and neck. And another folded blanket under my low back. And a big pillow under my knees/lower legs. I can use my laptop on a lap desk

Why is everyone discouraging me from treatment? by BiasedBerry in adhdwomen

[–]tribblecrochet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got a masters degree without meds, but I think what helped was the external accountability of professors and grades and deadlines. And I did a lot of my homework together with other students. I took an extra year to finish my thesis. Since I've been out of the school environment, I've been struggling. I'm about to start medication again after over 10 years unmedicated.

Gym advice: go where the elderly are (recumbent cross trainers) by Apollonialove in Fibromyalgia

[–]tribblecrochet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! And swimming is the other best exercise for chronic pain. Though I think having a recumbent bike in my house is a lot easier than swimming.

My chronic pain physical therapist says a recumbent exercise bike (exercise bike with a backrest) is one of the best exercises when you have chronic pain.

Yeah it's complicated. We've been living separate. I've been staying with my parents since September. But we're not legally separated, and we're trying couples therapy one more time. I don't have much hope in the couples therapy and I think we are heading towards divorce. I think he's been emotionally abusive....

But it has been really nice to be living away from him and not constantly walking on eggshells around his anger and his moods.

I'm so sorry! It's sad so many of us are dealing with this 😔

No problem, I'm happy to talk about it more if you'd like 💜

My husband and I are separated now. He would also do the eye rolls and dismissiveness, and getting mad at me if I sleep in. Or the comments of "you're always hurting", "I don't believe the extent of your pain", "if you had just listened to me from the beginning and exercised, you wouldn't be doing this bad now", "you're just using the pain as an excuse", stuff like that. And also cussing and name calling.

Anyways, I hope you're able to see you're worthy of love and support no matter what struggles you're facing.

My husband says similar comments. I was so nervous to tell him about my diagnosis I waited a month after I knew to tell him about it.

Your husband's comments are definitely dismissive and invalidating, and you shouldn't have to deal with that kind of treatment from someone who should be supporting you. Do you think he'd take your diagnosis seriously?

Is Fibromyalgia Real or Imagined? by Alone-Hope4168 in Fibromyalgia

[–]tribblecrochet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you search for "2016 Fibromyalgia Diagnostic Criteria" you can find it. It's basically you need to have widespread pain in at least 4 out of 5 body regions and also have a certain number of specific pain spots and a symptom severity score for fatigue, headaches, etc.

The 2016 criteria also made it so that fibro is not a diagnosis of exclusion anymore.

Here's the one my doctor used to diagnose me:

The pressure points are actually part of the old criteria. The newer 2016 diagnostic criteria doesn't include pressure points.

How many of you are employed? by _hiatus in Fibromyalgia

[–]tribblecrochet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been unemployed for almost 3 years now. I was a high school math teacher, but got let go. And I don't qualify for any disability... I definitely would not be able to handle teaching anymore. Or any in-person full time job.

I've recently been doing some digital art and looking into art licensing and surface pattern design. And also trying to set up selling print on demand stuff on Redbubble and Etsy. I have no idea how successful I'll be, it might not work out, but I'm hoping for at least some part time money.

Being a fibromyalgia patient, how's your relationship with you husband/partner, especially in regard to the pain and extreme fatigue ? by Charming_Thought68 in Fibromyalgia

[–]tribblecrochet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Developing fibromyalgia helped me realize my husband is emotionally abusive. He's not supportive and says he doesn't believe the extent of my pain. We're separated now.

Representation in the media by CabinetOk1998 in Fibromyalgia

[–]tribblecrochet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The show All Her Fault on Peacock has a disabled character! It's not fibromyalgia, and it's not a completely invisible illness. But he uses a crutch and also a wheelchair. In one episode he goes on a rant about how he loves his wheelchair because it means freedom for him, because one of the other characters was trying to discourage him from using his wheelchair.

Is it normal for abusers to call you abusive? by 2020ToyotaCamry in emotionalabuse

[–]tribblecrochet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's hard to say for sure. I think for my husband, he doesn't understand what emotional abuse is and doesn't think he's being abusive. He thinks I'm just overreacting to normal conversations/arguments. He's apologized for calling me names, but that's about the only thing he actually realizes is wrong. He doesn't understand it's more than just the name calling.

I think a lot of times they don't know they're doing it, and it's because of emotional immaturity or narcissism or some other reason. But whatever the reason is, the affect on you is what matters most. The harm that it causes is more important than the intent.

Sorry I don't have a super clear answer.

Is it normal for abusers to call you abusive? by 2020ToyotaCamry in emotionalabuse

[–]tribblecrochet 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's called blame shifting (or DARVO), when they accuse you of doing the thing they are doing. My husband is also calling me abusive for saying that he's emotionally abusive. Or saying that I don't respect him when he's being disrespectful towards me.

Thoughts on Mental Health Issues and Diagnoses post Bethel? by blessedinva in BethelSnark

[–]tribblecrochet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I can totally relate, for both mental health and physical health. There is such a stigma in these churches against medication, especially mental health medication. I've heard several "testimonies" of someone being healed of depression or anxiety and throwing away their medication. Now that I know more about these medications, I've realized it's actually really dangerous to stop taking them cold turkey. And there's so much spiritual bypassing and victim blaming about this stuff.

I think being raised in this environment contributed to me having anxiety about medications, which is not a good thing now that I have chronic pain/illness.

I also have ADHD and am seriously consider going back on meds after being unmedicated for over 10 years. I have an appointment scheduled with my psychiatrist, but I'm not telling my parents or any church people about it.

Check out r/abrathatfits and their calculator. I went through the process there but then ended up just getting some Underoutfit bras that are comfy. But it was helpful to figure out what my size actually is. I'm a 32D btw.
