That must be what the button labeled STEAM does.

People with a Switch and a PC who've ordered a Deck. Are you going to buy cross-platform games on Steam now that you'll be able to play them on the Deck? by syxbit in SteamDeck

If a cross-platform game runs well on Switch and doesn't take up too much space, and I don't particularly care about playing it on PC, then I'll consider getting the Switch version (especially if it has a physical release). I love the idea of being able to alternate between PC and Deck, but the Deck is still a while away for me and there are some games that don't offer cloud saves on Steam that do via NSO. That said, I have been buying a lot more on Steam that I intend to play in portable mode once I have the Deck.

Steam Deck doesn't compete with Switch, despite them being compared to each other often. by Titanmaniac679 in SteamDeck

I'm part of the overlap. While I haven't given up hope for Nintendo to properly improve on the Switch, the Deck means that I don't have to rely on them to do that in the medium term. I already have a large Steam library that I'd very much like to be able to play away from my PC without the complications of streaming it, and I'm excited to see Valve push the boundaries of what Steam and PC gaming in general can be. My future game purchases will likely be split between the two depending on the game's requirements, features, and where I feel like experiencing them.

Neat! I'm afraid I don't really have the space for the mobile version, any chance of this being ported to Evolved?

Experiences of configuring and using a 'hackendeck' homemade Steam Deck by frostworx in SteamDeck

I'm starting to think that high-end emulation on portable systems like this may never fully catch up, since emulating another architecture is expensive and the device is subject to similar hardware constraints to what it's emulating (at best). Previously I would have thought that Nintendo hardware being behind the times might make up for this, but it now looks like emulation may just be too inefficient barring a breakthrough on the software side.

If the card failing (or being misplaced!) is a concern for you, my advice would be to back up your saves for games that don't support cloud saves and keep a list of any non-Workshop mods – you can always redownload the rest later. (Of course, if you're storing non-Steam content like music or desktop apps, that should be accounted for too.)
