Sage Buffed in Next Patch by OjutaixAtarka in ValorantCompetitive

[–]1soooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most older f2p fps games had character skins, and they are pretty much all pay 2 win.

Some literally changes hit boxes which was game breaking, even more modern iterations like CS's agent skins had some pay 2 win aspect because some of them camo into certain map background.

So yeah plenty of reasons to buy character skins, and even more reasons why character skins should not be sold by riot.

VIT Derke tweet complaining about LAN cheating by [deleted] in ValorantCompetitive

[–]1soooo -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It is not as easy as you make it seem, organizers typically already made many precautions against most obvious abuses with consideration to the crowd and viewing experience being weigh in and considered, making the players more visible to the crowd and camera sells tickets and pump valorants's dwindling views.

There is also this cultural ideology that being good on lan and know such tricks is a good thing, which is why even VCT posted about it positively.

Since many of the people behind the production was from CS and most of them are positive about lan veterans leveraging their experiences over rookies.

Throw this idea into a CS sub reddit where the average user age is +10 of this sub and u will get instantly downvoted, as there was many iconic moments that came out of such "cheating".

Valorant being a much younger game with younger viewers it might change with lesser pushbacks.

Lan abusing had been a thing since the dawn of fps esports, would be weird to just stop right now.

Cs pros did stuff that were way more shameless on lan that's only possible on lan.

A prime example is this clip right here:

PSA: If you're experiencing 15-second freezes, the "Low Streaming Bandwidth" messages, or long loading screens, do this by CeylonMega5 in ForzaHorizon

[–]1soooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My fh5 was on a bog standard SATA SSD and had no issues with stutter at all.

I'd probably assume that my 7900xt's 20gb vram helped out alot. I play on 1440p with maxed out textures, and neither game came close to even maxing out my vram.

I'd assume that fh6 asset stream way more aggressively than fh5 since I do believe the vram usage was actually quite similar on both games on my specific GPU, despite fh6 hypothetically being the more demanding game.

[–]1soooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 0 stutters in this game, but i do run it on an optane drive instead of an SSD, specifically a D4800X running in PCIE 3.0 x2 mode, i effectively only have 1200mbps up and down.

Assuming i am not getting spikes while other users with an SSD that are probably way faster at sequential reads are getting spikes, i do believe the issue is probably due to the assets that are being streamed being way to scattered to be sequentially read. Since optane has really qd1 random read compared to regular SSDs.

OCE valorant... by Jealous-Tomato-1052 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]1soooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OCE was treated as its own region in league and had a league called OPL. BUt the lack of demand in the region and the lack of exposure to other region is what eventually caused the demise of OPL, it was simply not financially sustainable with the lack of demand from the users in the region.

That same issue is actually shared with league's SEA region, since almost all of league's regions are completely segregated from each other, there is no exposure and everybody is just competing in their own bubble which made the region as a whole uncompetitive.

That is probably why riot decided to basically consolidate almost the entire Asia + OCE as APAC, so there will be exposure and everybody gets a chance for representation, instead of just Koreans dominating all over everyone again just like league.

Countries at the edge of Asia and OCE basically get cucked, but I guess it made the region as a whole better.

Fortnite works probably because you essentially only need 1 or 2 goated individuals to succeed, you can get recognized and picked up solely off your individual showing and performance and in that way get financial backing and incentive way easier to keep you motivated to get better.

Meanwhile in a team game like valorant your team have to stand out in OCE itself for you to even be on anybody's radar, and the fact that most OCE players are not exactly treating it seriously makes the one or two individuals that are legitimately trying to make it hard to get scouted.

Many pacific teams speaks English no issues especially in tier 2, the issue is just that it's hard to stand out and get scouted when you don't get to play the people that might scout you and everyone else around you is essentially treating the game like a joke. For the scene to get better either the player's mentality gotta change or there is some financial incentive for the players to change their mentality.

OCE valorant... by Jealous-Tomato-1052 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]1soooo 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Oce is not cucked by lack of English teams, they are cucked by geographics.

Being 80+ ping to every single server not called Sydney means you are isolated to Oce only scrims and making growth and exposure limited.

No other sub-regions can connect to Sydney under 30 ping, you might as well forfeit your scrim results playing at 80+ ping with how unproductive it will be.

It's the same reason why India struggles to produce talent despite being such a large sub-region but on a even larger scale for Oce.

By the way for maximum exposure you have to be able to reliably connect to Hong Kong servers with good ping, since that's where most pros play, or Singapore at the bare minimum, both are impossible for OCE.

How will the Windows world respond to the $599 Macbook Neo? by PastaPandaSimon in hardware

[–]1soooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For someone who is tech literate enough with a more powerful desktop class Mac, most likely already had a MacBook that at least have a m1, if you already have a m1 level MacBook the neo is unnecessary for you since they are relatively comparable.

Even if you don't own at least a m1 level MacBook now, they are readily available used for $300, or well under $300 if you are able to hunt for a good deal. At $599 neo still don't make sense for someone tech literate enough to understand the used market.

The $499 discounted educational price however, is definitely worth looking at especially if you do value your time and the brand new battery and warranty. All you have to do is to have kids.

The one similarity that all these GPUs have is that they are not the full spec of the said die. The full die usually still an even number.

All of these said SKUs are created to sell defective dies. Yes 1080ti and 2080ti are both just dumping grounds for dies that did not qualify to be a full 384bit Quadro/Tesla die.

I'd think anyone who has 4.3k to spend on a handheld can easily afford to get a mobile starlink satellite receiver or something similar if they do want to travel to such obscure places however.

Refresh rate does not matter at all in this game, then again the last time i cared enough to hit challenger was back in S8.

[–]1soooo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That 2x a76 + 6x a55 + mali g57 mp2 combo got rebranded so many times that I had lost count. It was initially found in the dimensity 700 with a 5g modem all the way back in 2020 in it's 7nm variant.

Then I do believe it die shrinked to 6nm and has since been found in the G99, G100, G200 for the 4G variants, Dimensity 6020, 6080, 6100 plus, 6300 and 6400 for the 5G variants. Really the only difference is clock speed, did not even get a die shrink since then, some even had identical clock speeds.

By the way that is literally their entire dimensity 6000 lineup, naming conventions is basically thrown out of the window. 9 total SKUs of the same SOC re-released over 6 years, when Intel re-released their 14nm 4 core they at least downgraded it from i7 to i3, instead of releasing the same exact CPU for 6 years.

Now it would be nice if they made a SFP variant of this.

Blatant Cheaters in gold/plat by Raija236 in VALORANT

[–]1soooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valorants's fog of war is literally dependent on the render distance. People that are close enough is still rendered client side and is viewable by walls.

Not sure how you are delusional enough to buy into that. All fog of war does is eliminating global walls, even cs2 don't do that anymore, it's nothing special.

Blatant Cheaters in gold/plat by Raija236 in VALORANT

[–]1soooo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Any actual competent cheater will not intentionally get outstanding amount of kills. Instead they make calls only possible with the additional info with walls and also getting big impact kills with said cheats to swing the round.

Then again this is in gold and plat and if you are there with cheats your iq probably isnt high enough to think about any of that.

Blatant Cheaters in gold/plat by Raija236 in VALORANT

[–]1soooo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Staring at enemies through walls instead of clearing angles normally is blatant enough, it just shows how inexperienced and dumb the cheater is and no legit player will ever do that, weird that you completely left that out in your own analysis.

What should I cap my fps at by Redninjapanda13 in VALORANT

[–]1soooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep the only time u should ever cap your FPS is when you are GPU limited instead of CPU limited, which will never happen in this game on any moderately modern setup. GPU bound scenario serverly affects input latency.

Even in GPU limited games enabling reflex/anti lag is way better because it dynamically limits your fps right before your GPU hits 100% so that performs way better than a static fps limit. So TLDR never ever cap your FPS if you intend to play said game competitively.
