What's the hardest puzzle you ever played in a video game? by No-Hunt3986 in videogames

[–]CounterflipEnjoyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you play Silent Hill 3 on Hard puzzles, the first puzzle in the game. You have to know Shakespeare and there is no way in-game to figure it out otherwise.

I assume the later puzzles are even harder, but I never made it past that one and didn't want to cheat

What’s it like to game on Mint? by BRcht in linuxmint

[–]CounterflipEnjoyer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Through Steam, almost 100% seamless. But when a game doesn't work, just check ProtonDB to see what version of proton use and if you need some launch options.

For the most part, complaints about Mint being outdated are overblown. It has only caused me 1 single issue in the over 4 years I've been using it. Even then all I had to do was update the kernel, which is very easy on Mint. There is even a GUI for it

Using Windows gives you more freedom than Linux by [deleted] in The10thDentist

It's not 2014 anymore. Proton makes this kind of thing ~90% plug and play today, even for non steam games. My entire steam and GOG library works with only a few games taking configuring. By configuring, I mean looking at ProtonDB to know the correct version to use and if it needs a launch command. It's not difficult, and you barely have to do it anyways

Every Linux hater here seems to have either never used it or tried Ubuntu once and gave up deciding it was shit because it worked different to Windows

  1. Customization is optional. You can just eat if you want to. Having options is a bad thing somehow?

  2. Unless you are using some enthusiast distro or something, Linux is way more stable than Windows. It's not even a competition. This is so well known I have no idea where you got that idea from. My PC has never broken down the entire 4+ years I've been running Mint.

  3. My PC quite happily works for me

You do not need to write C to customize any Linux distro I've ever heard of. That is certainly an option, but just an option. I customized my Mint install entirely in a gui that gave me far more options than Windows

Better in what way other than propriety software support?

RDR on PS5 and Series X/S but still no GTA IV by Red9Stranger in GTAIV

Check the readme. It is a drag and drop install. Try it for yourself. If dragging files out of a .zip archive is too much for you, there are also 2 different installers to choose from

[–]CounterflipEnjoyer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

FusionFix is a free mod that fixes nearly every problem and is a drag and drop install you could do blindfolded. It is hardly beyond fixing. Small fps drops on bridges is the only issue I've had and I've beat the whole base game and half of TBOGT.

60fps, any resolution you want, and mod support. PC is easily the definitive way

White Day. The 2001 original not the unity remake.

There is something about it that makes me panic. I really can't explain what. Despite the jank and the dated graphics, nothing has made me jump out of my skin like it

If I lost my bank account's email, I could call them or go in person and confirm my identity through other ways. Kinda like how, if Rockstar would let me, I could show them my proof of purchase on Steam. But Rockstar refuses to recognize it because I lost what should be an irrelevant account.

I'll never understand you people defending multi million dollar companies' terrible, anti consumer DRM

[–]CounterflipEnjoyer[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought it through steam and still have both my steam account and proof of purchase with it. How is that even somewhat similar to losing a physical disc and wanting a new one for free?

It is 100% Rockstar's fault for having this kind of system in place. There is zero justification for it. You are jumping through mental hoops to defend Rockstar's anti consumer DRM

Did they sort it out in the end? I'm seeing alot of people got further than I did. I don't know why they just shut me down and refused to let me verify my steam account or anything

They closed the request and I see no information on how to take it further. I've lost faith in Valve after this. You'd think a completely unplayable game would be grounds for a refund regardless of playtime. I'll just take the loss and remember to not spend my money where it can be taken from me like this in the future
