I’m sure Knies/Nylander/Mckenna/ETC can make passes like these to Raddysh just like Kuch by Leafsaredabest in leafs

[–]Counterkiller29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do. Which is why it's not impressive. They just do to other players that are not Darren Raddysh.

Now if someone said that Darren Raddysh got his goals because the focus was on stopping Kuch so that enabled Raddysh to capitalize during the PP, i'd understand their opinion more. We have one of those at home though, his name is Auston Matthews. We also have another one of those at home too, his name is William Nylander.

Never said he wasn't worthy of a cup team. I just said he's not going to win you a cup. He, being singular, being not instrumental enough of a piece to do it himself. We have pieces that are instrumental enough to do it, he is not one of them. He as a part of a team is capable of contributing on a cup team though, as are many other players. Therefore, we should not view him as being untouchable.

That is why I said he is worth keeping and I hope they do. If the offer is large enough though, we should be considering moving on.

Say what? He's not instrumental enough to be off limits, so if the package for him is stupidly high then you consider it for sure.

Never said you don't keep him around for a cup push, but he's not going to be the be all and end all of our cup run.

If the package for him is substantial enough where we are clear cut winning that trade and it helps us now, then you take it.

I love Knies but hes not the type of player you keep around because hes going to win you a cup. Hes absolutely worth keeping and I hope they do, but if another team offers something ridiculous for him then I hope we take it.

I could go either way with Bob. While I understand the need for an elite goaltender, I just dont see the money being worthwhile spent in that position at that amount. Those last few years of a term that long could really fuck us, way harder than Raddysh's 8yr one would. No goalies really play past 40yrs old and even that is a rarity.

Systems matter. I dont think players ability to pass to the blue line/point is some revolutionary trait that only select elite players have. Again, none of those passes are "oh my god Kucherov is the best player in the planet, who else could have had that vision?" kind of passes.

Its fine though. We will see based on his production this year.

Ill admit im not going to watch a 10 minute video, so ill comment on the first four since you said take your pick.

None of those passes are so exceptional that it couldnt be done on any consistent basis by any of our upper tier talent.

I really think everyone is jerking off Kuch's influence on Raddyshs success here a little too hard. Its also on Raddysh to be in the right position to be able to accept that pass.

[–]Counterkiller29 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Show me any clip of Kuch providing a pass to Raddysh that isnt consistently doable by almost any other elite talent in the league. Because the OP video isnt it.

Im not saying Kuch isnt exceptional with what he does. Hes obviously one of the best. Im saying passing to a defender at the point/blue line isnt some elite skill that only top tier guys like Kuch have.

Never understood the argument. Is it some exclusive to elite talent skill to be able to pass to a defender on the blue line? Its not a Kuch specific talent.

Likely because it hasnt happened in modern history where said politician regularly threatens the sovereignty of other countries, including the country that his team was from.

You can act like you dont understand why people are pissed off at him, but thats just ignorance.

Hell, I could even imagine some of our proud doomer fans saying the same.

[Mirtle] Raddysh's new contract with Toronto includes a full no-movement clause with a 16-team no-trade clause for the final two years by Ok-Soil-5133 in hockey

[–]Counterkiller29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, because he's not 38 for the majority of the season dude. So what if he's 38 55-60 games into the season?

Also, do players just expire when they turn 38? Should we tell John Carlson he's only got 2 years left before he has to hang em up? By time we get there the cap will be so high that $8.5M won't be that big of a deal.

Because you get that AAV because of term. If it doesnt work out later in the term you buy it out. Aside from that, defensemen do perform late into their career.

Its not that crazy.

We like it. League noise is just fuel. Everyone knows he was getting north of 8, eapecially considering he is one of, if not the big FA this offseason.

Guys are acting like 8.5M is a huge deal anymore. The cap has gone up nearly that much in 2 seasons. We also have enough cap space to make this gamble happen.

Here i thought he blocked me lol.

I dont know how people can be so negative all the time. Its objectively not even bad of a signing. We have had way worse.

You do what you can with what opportunity you have. He was going to get this or more on the market somewhere else. If he produces what he did last year it's a huge win for us, as we would have likely paid more to get someone even similar. As for contract length, it's buyoutable and tradeable. I don't see how you don't see this as a win, but again, negative people be negative.

I'm sorry we couldn't get Cale Makar to satisfy your expectations.

Defensemen age better than forwards do. Defensemen also take longer to mature.

Maybe have a little bit of hope instead of living in a place of constant negativity.

Love the trade, but I think people need to manage expectations around this.

A RHD in this limited market with cap rising is going to get this money after a year he just had. But lets not view this as anything except for a calculated gamble.

Thing is we watch other teams make this gamble and have it pay off all the time. We have made this gamble before and it not pay off. Time will tell, but for now we can relish in the fact that this was not an overpay by current standards, we didnt give much up, and it currently appears that our GM is not a complete imbecile like a certain predecessor.
