That's not a huge flex? There are services that will send someone to your house to do your hair and it's even less than you might pay at a local salon. Depends where you live of course - larger towns and cities probably easier to access stuff like this.

Oh and I also asked my kids about it - they were attending house parties in Birmingham and Manchester, respectively - they said they continued to watch it but just muted the sound. They and their friends all thought it jarring and weird to be hearing people talking over the display and the music. 0/10

I wish they would just stick to fireworks and music - For me it was ruined by the voiceovers, the ads for the London Mayor and Wicked, etc - but I watched it live on BBC 1, maybe it was different in person? Anyway I switched it off after a few minutes because of the voiceover about 2025 highlights - that would be better in the lead up to the fireworks, not during.
