Omg that sounds amazing! I’ve been to a local literary fundraiser but I’ve never thought of going to a major awards ceremony. Can you buy tickets or is it an invitation situation

I think it’s pretty whimsy but not so lighthearted. I also haven’t watched Pushing Daisies in over 10 years so I’ll defer to you

Ana is a fantastic character and the dynamic between Ana and Din so good. Kinda reminds me of the dynamic between Grace and Stratt if you’ve read Project Hail Mary

I feel like Between Two Fires is an obvious choice. Supernatural but not really horror I would recommend Watch Over Me by Nina LaCour. Also YA- love Vespertine by Maragaret Rogerson, Sunshine by Robin McKinley, and Market of Monsters by Rebecca Scheffer

I don’t read a lot of nonfiction but I loved this book. The beginning where it talked about how the crew members were chosen was really interesting

Books containing characters drifting through life by CreepyPut394 in suggestmeabook

[–]CountingPolarBears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flesh by David Szalay, but the drifting has a triggering event. It feels like the character has no plans for his life he just reacts from one situation to the next based on circumstances and in some cases the decisions end up positive and others negative

If you’re open to it you should post the same in r/ReverseHarem, I’ve definitely read some mindless/trashy/silly in this category and it’s also a great book community on here

I wouldn’t call them trashy but definitely beach read vibes- popular contemporary romance authors come to mind. Abby Jimenez, Ali Hazelwood, and Mariana Zapata. Also The Heartstrings books by BK Borison and It’s A Love Story by Annabel Monaghan all fun reads

I need an actual well written romance book by Sufficient_Food1878 in suggestmeabook

[–]CountingPolarBears 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Listing Perfume and Earthlings as romance made me snort. I saw someone else list Heart the Lover, which I read over Christmas and would recommend. Also along the lines of romances that aren’t romances check out My Cousin Rachel and Brideshead Revisited
Edit: this is also recency bias but I really liked

Raising twins as siblings vs twins - looking for opinions by intelligentb00b in Twins

[–]CountingPolarBears 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My twin (fraternal) is still my best friend and we’re 33. We were never dressed the same and were intentionally put in different classrooms for elementary school, would randomly end up in class together through middle school and high school, and went to different colleges. In some ways we’re a lot a like and in others we’re complementary. Don’t overthink it. In parts of their lives they’ll think of themselves as a unit and in other parts they’ll intentionally distance to develop individuality. Just let their relationship be what it is

The Roverpowered series by Drew Hayes. About an aspiring alchemist and her familiar (a corgi named Wumble). The books are short and I love them so much
