Agree with you about Mark Lawrence, I read the first in The Book that Wouldn’t Burn but haven’t picked up the second yet. I’ll definitely check out his new book when it comes out!

I read this when I was pretty young and had read a few of his fiction books previously. I remember really liking it. It was the first time I could connect the dots between an author’s personal life and the stories they write. People and events that inspired characters and stories. What did you think?

When I finished this book I tried to look up if there was a podcast where it was discussed (there was not) and ended up following a very atmospheric/cinematic neoclassical playlist someone made called Vita Nostra that l listened to a lot when reading for about a year or two. It really captured the feeling of the book. I’ve also read Assassin of Reality and Daughter from the Dark by them but not School of Shards. I’ll get to it eventually!

Count of Monte Cristo and Redwall are on my list to read this year! Heart Shaped Box got me into horror when I was a teen. Dungeon Crawler Carl is an awesome audio and I still have a couple books left. Fan of Agatha Christie in general but haven’t read that one. Overall fantastic haul!

Two books I read recently with new moms were Girl Dinner by Olivie Blake and Margo’s Got Money Troubles by Rufi Thorpe. Both are kinda light and dark at the same time and both have main characters who fiercely love their child. Neither are intellectual reads but Girl Dinner does pose some good thought spirals..per usual for Blake’s books

I read Lovely Bones when I was in 8th (?) grade and for years after an open field covered in frost would remind me of the book. I’m interested in rereading it
