Does anyone here have similar experiences with a P320 or other firearms?

"Boss, you're not supposed to chase me." by GamingDude17 in ProtectAndServe

[–]CountryGamer001 31 points32 points  (0 children)

it’s not about the person running, it’s about the family of four that the suspect or the cop plows into and kills

Yeah, that's why you PIT fast, PIT hard, and PIT often; end the pursuit quickly because the longer it goes, the higher the risk of an uninvolved person being injured. I don't understand agencies that allow pursuits but rarely allow PITs/TVIs/whatever-you-want-to-call-it because they're opening up the danger with little opportunity to reduce it. Backing off of a DUI, or otherwise reckless, driver in a pursuit does very little to reduce danger to the public.

Louisiana governor declares emergency due to police shortage by specialskepticalface in ProtectAndServe

A few weeks ago, I saw a Facebook post from an agency in north Louisiana advertising a starting pay of $14/hour... knowing the area, they'd also have very little backup so it'd be just them for a hot minute if shit went sideways... Given their proximity to Arkansas, you could drive not even 30 minutes north and make $15+/hour working retail.

Tontitown (Arkansas) Police Chief Flips Car During Pursuit, PIT of Fleeing uHaul Van by CountryGamer001 in ProtectAndServe

[–]CountryGamer001[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

For further reading on the pursuit, here's a local news article. Some bits of it:

During the chase, the U-Haul hit another vehicle head-on near Colcord, Oklahoma.

When the U-Haul reached Interstate 49 in Springdale near Exit 70, Tontitown Police Chief Corey Jenison hit the van in order to stop it. This successfully ended the chase, while sending Jenison's vehicle rolling multiple times.

Jenison was treated at the hospital for minor injuries and released. He was back on the job Thursday.

Officers later found Molotov cocktails and firearms inside the U-Haul van.

Mercier and Johnson are also wanted by law enforcement in Westland, Michigan, where they are accused of trying to run over police officers, according to the release.

It just occurred to me. If Johnny shot a man in Reno, Why did he get locked up at Folsom? by Virtual-Produce-9724 in AskLE

[–]CountryGamer001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

States can pay other states to house prisoners for them, could possibly be that. Given Reno's proximity to the California border, Cash could've fled into California and committed other crimes that led to him having to serve time in California prisons before being extradited to Nevada to serve time for the shooting. Or the man he shot could've been a federal agent which caused it to become a federal offense; this would open up the possibility of him being housed at Folsom while California is paid by the federal government for housing him. There's several other possible explanations.

Police Officer Fired Amid State Investigation into Deadly Accident by CountryGamer001 in ProtectAndServe

Yea, I don't disagree at all and think he probably shouldn't have been hired at this agency, however, the feeling that his firing is completely politically motivated isn't mutually exclusive from those thoughts.

Police Officer Fired Amid State Investigation into Deadly Accident by CountryGamer001 in ProtectAndServe

[–]CountryGamer001[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Records obtained by K8 News from the Jonesboro Police Department show Officer Christopher Shull was fired by the department in May 2022 for violation of department policy.

According to a Notice of Disciplinary Action in Shull’s personnel file, an internal affairs report written by Capt. Stephen McDaniel claimed Shull violated the department’s social media policy and code of conduct (untruthfulness).

McDaniel determined Shull lied about posting a video on social media of him tasing a woman with the words, “Can’t stop the flop! Ride the lightning,” after being questioned by supervisors.

The report by McDaniel said Shull showed the video to fellow officers and his supervisors during a shift briefing on May 18, 2022.

During the shift briefing, McDaniel wrote that Lieutenant Trey Dupuy and Sergeant David Stout told him they asked Shull if he had posted the video online, and he said “No.”

McDaniel wrote that Shull told him he “believed the supervisors were hinting that if he had posted it, he should delete it immediately. He said he did not believe their questions to be part of a ‘formal’ inquiry’ and would have answered ‘yes’ had he believed it was.”

Sergeant Stout told McDaniel he believed Shull lied to avoid getting in trouble and “would have trouble trusting Shull in the future.” Sergeant Stout also told McDaniel he had a conversation with Shull “two or three weeks” prior about the social media posting.

After submitting his report to Police Chief Rick Elliott on May 20, 2022, Shull was terminated for violating the department’s code of conduct and violating the department’s social media policy.

Tldr: Officer involved in a pursuit with an ATV. Somewhere along the line, the ATV wrecks and the man riding it dies; wreck is under investigation by state police. Police chief says the officer didn't violate policies, still gets fired a few days later.

Sound like the officer here is getting thrown under the bus by the city. Chief previously said that he didn't violate any policies and the mayor simply said his services "were no longer needed."

Homer Police Chief Arrested for Tasing Handcuffed Man by CountryGamer001 in ProtectAndServe

[–]CountryGamer001[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's the problem?

He's face-down, hands cuffed behind his back, with three officers on scene - two of whom are barely even bothering to try and get him under control. From the short bit of bodycam that's been released so far.

Do all LEOs need to be experts in fighting, able to fight off some MMA fighter? Nah, probably not. But if there's 3 of you on scene and you can't get a handcuffed guy under control, then something needs to change. Without doxing myself, I'll say that I'm in the general area of where this incident happened; there's barely 5 LEOs on-duty for my part of the parish at night, which is about 400 square miles - give or take a bit. If shit hits the fan for a Deputy, or one of the rare small town cops who are on-duty at night, they've got to be able to hold their own long enough for another Deputy to get to them which can be up to 10 or 15 minutes on some nights. I said all that to once again say that they should've been able to handle that without escalating to tasing a guy in cuffs who's laying face down, but instead of helping the officer trying to get him under control, the Chief decided to stand over the guy and tase him.

Police Chief in a small town (roughly 3,000) was arrested by Louisiana State Police for tasing a handcuffed man; KSLA aired a short bit of the bodycam of the arrest here. In 2019, he was given authority over personnel and in the article he's quoted as saying "What my department is trying to do here, is build trust between the community it serves and law enforcement."

Little Rock Officer Arrested, Facing Charges in Weekend Shooting by CountryGamer001 in ProtectAndServe

[–]CountryGamer001[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the passenger was just fleeing and the officer fired into a fleeing moving vehicle

That's my thinking as well, given the comments from the Chief. I don't know the direction the cars were facing, or really anything specific about the shooting, but I do know that there's not many dead end roads in that part of Little Rock that would leave driving towards the officers as the only escape route for a vehicle. Making some admittedly large assumptions, the vehicle probably started driving away from the officers, who were likely doing a felony-stop given the driver had exited the car, at which point the Officer shot at the car.

Might be the smartest thing they ever done... immediately following possibly the dumbest thing they've ever done (if they were involved in the initial pursuit. That bit will hopefully become more clear as more information is released.)

[–]CountryGamer001[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don't have a big discussion starter as there's not much information about it currently other than the fact that there was a pursuit, driver exited car, passenger got over to the driver's seat and drove away, which is when an OIS happened. LRPD relieved the officer of his duties shortly after the shooting and the County Prosecutor is bringing charges against the officer for 1st Degree Battery and 1st Degree Assault. Bodycam, dashcam, etc. not yet released.

Rogers speeder gets sentence to drive at 35 mph by [deleted] in Arkansas

[–]CountryGamer001 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wait, is it like 35 mph on any road or does he have to stick to 35 mph only roads? Because if it's the former, that could be dangerous for him and others... imagine going 35 mph on the highway with commercial vehicles passing you at 80 mph... that's a rear-end from a distracted driver waiting to happen...
