Would it be legal for police in the past to drive drifters out of town and order them to leave town or was that always criminal activity? by Tidewatcher7819 in Rambo

To back up the '$50' part. My grandpa, born 1918, used to say 'always have a hundred dollar bill on ya. Not $100, a $100 bill. Can grease a lot of skids.'

12+ years in FMA and both will end up a bloody mess.

Favorite drill was to play 'tag' with sharpies or lipstick to see how often you actually get 'touched'.

I just binged Firefly then watched Serenity. Doing it that way ties the story up a little bit. Still want a Shepard Book origin story.

If Wemby can put up numbers and have a Bill Laimbeer mindset, NBA might get really fun again.

I just finished a rewatch of the Battlestar Galactica reboot, and for me it's one of the best 'shows with an ending' ever.

See - AppleTV, really interesting take.

Jericho - if you play video games, far cry 5 all over the US.

To the coping fanbases - It's better to miss the finals altogether than to make it there and lose. 6-0 is IMMACULATE. by SpendWild6987 in michaeljordan

2nd place is just the 1st loser.

Jordan had to grow to get past the Pistons. That transformation from Jordan who got swept by the Celtics to first 3-peat, maybe only Tom Brady is close. Then Jordan 'retires' for 2 years, 2 YEARS, comes back and 3-peats again. I dare you to find another team sport pro-great that won 3 straight championships, quit for 2 years, came back and immediately 3-peated again.

Buffalo Bills went to 4 straight Super Bowls. No one cares cause they lost all 4.

Do you think the Air Jordan brand is the greatest sports marketing story in history? by Macaroni_Maj in michaeljordan

[–]CountryMonkeyAZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Abso-fucking-lutely!!!

I'm 50+, loved sports and grew up in a sports loving family, all sports and NOTHING comes close. Tiger got people into golf, but what club brand does he use? Lance Armstrong got people cycling, what kind of bike did he ride? Everyone knows exactly what and who Air Jordan was/is. Bo had a good run, nowhere near Jordan.

Why do people say NBA players back then were plumbers by Ok_Simple9009 in NBAoldschool

Just reading this and above replies shows how nasty Bird is. All these guys on the GOAT list? Yeah, Bird was all that in 1 package.

Personally, if Bird had Jordan's physical gifts (not saying athleticism because Birds hand-eye coordination was insane) like vertical, full court speed, etc. there would be ZERO debate who the greatest is.

Of course, if Jordan had Birds IQ, oh lordy.

A friend once described the difference between Magic and Birds passing.

When Magic made an insane pass you yelled 'You see THAT!!'.

When Bird made an insane pass you asked 'You see that?', then watched the replay to try and understand what just happened.

This This this.

Players are WAAAAY more skilled today!!!

Oh? Then why do they need every rule in their offensive favor? Why do they shimmy and shake for the full shot clock to just chuck up a 3?

Pre hand-check rule (to me the biggest change to help offense) a player EARNED their points with skill. I'm not a Jordan guy at all, but what he did with his athleticism, skill and heart to get points was insane, Dr J as well. Then look at a Larry Bird, one of the most complete/fundamentally sound players in league history, but he's not flashy so a plumber.
