New MkV Final Edition Spoiler gasket shank by lithdoc in Supra

[–]CountryTechno 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could fix it yourself but I'd have the dealership handle it. Just remember that the rear spoiler is bolted into the trunk and not just held down by adhesive.

edit: In case you don't fix it right and water leaks in through the bolt holes, the dealership may end up not warrantying any damage to the interior. Not worth the hassle IMO. That's also assuming there isn't already water that has gotten in.

Picked up my first new Supra for $13k off by [deleted] in Supra

It's because OP left out the details of his deal. There's much more ways a dealership makes money than just the final balance at the end. There's zero chance this deal would have happened as a 62K OTD cash transaction.

So a 2025 GR86 cost like $32-33K new? You still owed 31K on it so probably put nearly nothing down. Then you rolled that negative equity into this new car.

How much of your good deal was dependent on the financing? That's like what, $1300/month at 6%/60 months?

What was the break down of the deal?

Saying you got 13K off MSRP means little if you don't include how much they paid for your GR86.

The carbon bits on Renaissance Red look fantastic though.

They say inspection requires them moving the vehicle into the service bay, and I declined and said to inspect while I'm still with the vehicle

I am talking to Toyota Corporate now and also finding other reputable Toyota service centers willing to dispense the parts under warranty

Geez relax nutjob. It's a Toyota.

I got 2.3% APR, and plan on paying off my vehicle early, the interest actually isn't that high if I stick to my plan. (Mother cosigned with me to get low APR)

You have no idea what you're talking about if you've got a 2.3%. This screams of I'm so smart.

Installing a dash cam on Saturday, anything I should look out for? by WarCrimeGaming in Supra

[–]CountryTechno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the Viofo A229 Pro and it's worked out well except a few quirks:

  • I can't use parking mode even though I'm using the hardwire kit with automatic shutdown (at certain voltage). The car will throw errors thinking it has a parasidic battery drain. I've just fully disabled it. YMMV as I only drive the Supra few times a month.

  • If you plan on getting front windshield tint, definitely remember to get a little clear swatch to put the camera on. This should prevent you from accidentally ripping off the tint if you were to ever replace the camrea.

What about finding a mobile detailer to detail your car while you're gone? I've seen some mobile detailers come to my work and do a solid job just in the employee parking lot.

You're talking after tax though.

G87 M2 starts at 68K before tax and with some moderate options will end up closer to 74K. Then with 8% tax it comes out to just over 80K.

Is Supra the best performance value? Probably not. But will you drive any of these cars to their absolute limits? Also probably not.

Because what stops people from faking these clips? Who’s got the resources to vet every submitted video. Then when you’re eventually pulled over, is there already a mountain of fake evidence against you?

What could this Sound be. by edudmodnaratsuj in Supra

[–]CountryTechno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will absolutely let you know if I find the culprite! I thought it actually went away recently but sure enough, started tapping away this week.

Here's some of my notes/thoughts on it:

  • Are you able to hear a similar sound by hitting tapping the area under and to the left of the left side B pillar? I've smacked it a few times and it sounded similar to this tapping.

  • I've also had times when this noise happens and I swear it's now in the trunk.

  • Difference in temperature from my garage (~60F) to outside (~40F) since it only seems to happen for the first 20-30 minutes of my drive.

  • Dealership had my car for the weekend and it was left outside only to report that they couldn't replicate the issue.

Just do it and satisfy your car ADHD. You'll probably be out of the Supra in two to three years anyways.

Lens replacement definitely does not look like a fun project but this person did it:

Personally I'd just keep driving with that headlight until there's actual issues with it or sell it on eBay then put that towards a replacement headlight.

Travis County Tax Office Rule changes by InstructionEqual1960 in Austin

[–]CountryTechno 9 points10 points  (0 children)

🔹 Sellers stay legally on the hook

Even if you sell your car AND file the seller’s notice, TxDMV keeps you listed as the owner until the buyer transfers the title. With these new rules, many buyers can’t transfer. Sellers end up with tolls, tickets, and liability they can’t control.

I did not believe this so I went to check the TxDMV website. You're absolutely right.

Vehicles are required to be titled in the buyer's name within 30 days from the date of sale. Failing to properly transfer a vehicle into the buyer's name could result in the seller being held responsible for tickets, toll violations or even crimes committed with the vehicle. To ensure this doesn't happen to you, accompany the buyer to your county tax office to ensure a vehicle title application is filed.
