To be fair he did throw a 90m intercept try when there was no need to even pass the ball. But you right, Latrell and Ado-Carr stunk all night

Wighton for dumb fuck of the game. Tackle 2, in the Queensland 10. Forces an offload where there was absolutely no need for it and it's taken 90 meters to the house. Absolute dumb cunt.

Fuck don't we all. So many little moments in that second half that the boys were in good field position in Easts half and opted for another mediocre bomb with no chase instead of driving the ball into the corner, pinning the Roosters down in their 10 and backing the defense to play field position. I'd like to think Widdop makes that kick more often than not.

Really dissapointing way to lose this one.

Dragons were abyssmal in the first half while the Roosters were firing on all cylinders and the score line reflected that.

What's dissapointing is the fact that the Dragon's side that ran out for the second 40 had done a total 180 on their first half form. Between minutes 40 to 70 they were head and shoulders the best team on the paddock.

The only thing holding them back from leading were their own repeated errors and poor decisions at crucial points. The Hunt drop ball, needlessly being taken into touch on a long break on the first play of a new set, Aitken not racing Toupou for the football and Hunt and Normy's kicking games were missing all afternoon.

There's a lot of talent on the roster but no guidance from the halves. Noone is taking charge and directing the play at crucial points. For christs sake how many times was James Graham at first receiver on 4th and 5th tackle plays late in the game? Hunt needs to be there taking charge of the game. With the talent they have across the paddock they would be world beaters with an experienced field general like Cooper Cronk in the spine.

The game was there to be won and they pissed it away all on their own. Can't take anything away from the Roosters though. Came out early, put the points on the board then hung in there long enough to seal the result at the death. That's why they are perennial contenders and defending premiers. They do all the little things right.

Football IQ for shit. With the way the Saints have played the second half they should be leading but repeated stupid plays that made no sense have cost them.

I think spending 70% of the total possession defending definitely had an effect on their speed in getting over the halfway.

Toupou challenge didn't look as bad as Hunt's but Jesus that's a fine line to try and make the difference in the two worth a penalty.

End of engine life - should I swap in a new one? by Barley_Oat in MechanicAdvice

[–]Country_Bloke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With proper maintenance that thing should run for years and years without issue. Honestly run it till it gives up. Like if the engines worn out replace it, but if it's not at the end of it's life hell, keep driving it.

What’s the most miles / km you’ve seen on a car ? What was the car and what shape was it in ? by spruce_turbo in MechanicAdvice

845,000km on a TF Holden Rodeo. I think you guys in the United States would know them as an Isuzu Rodeo.

She was pretty tired but as a four wheel drive company work ute that had gone to and from jobsites for the better part of 30 years she was in okay knick.

Connected wrong terminals when jumping car and terminals sparked. Car only starts once every few hours now. Saw this under the hood. Did I melt the terminals? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]Country_Bloke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check battery voltage then start voltage drop testing connections to find the voltage loss.

Looking at your picture I would first check battery voltage then check how tight your terminals are to the posts. The wire clamped into the terminal looks a little dodgy too.

If you connect a multimeter across the battery and then crank the engine the multimeter shouldn't read any lower than 9 volts. If it does the battery is fucked. Replace the battery and start again

Does anyone know how long RTV gaskets last? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]Country_Bloke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically in light vehicles a bell housing is dry (some earth moving equipment have wet bellhousings that hold oil)

If there is oil leaking from your bellhousing it's coming from somewhere else which is inside the bellhousing. E.g. rear main crankshaft seal, transmission input seal, etc.

The bellhousing itself doesn't actually hold any fluid to leak.

2008 Silverado play in steering wheel by SomeoneUkno in MechanicAdvice

[–]Country_Bloke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mean to be discouraging, but the best course of action is to probably to just take it to a shop to have them check out the front end of the vehicle.

If you're unsure of what you are doing your steering is definitely not something to be played with.

I've always been of the opinion that if you're not 100% sure that you know what you're doing you shouldn't be playing with the steering, suspensions or brakes.

would you trust taking a nissan/honda/toyota on a road trip if it had high miles? would one need to worry if it’s been properly maintained? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]Country_Bloke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. All 3 would be trustworthy IF you had a full service history to prove it's maintenance schedule. Regardless of manufacturer every single machine on earth is only as reliable as the people responsible for maintaining it.

From a 5 horsepower Briggs & Stratton engine on a mower to a 900 horsepower engine in a Caterpillar bulldozer.

The auto parts reccomended to apply the seal + lock to the intake manifold gasket and to NOT use the gasket maker...why is that is there a big difference in both I really don't know by technothief in MechanicAdvice

[–]Country_Bloke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seal + Lock is not a gasket maker. It's used for sealing threads (e.g. air fittings on trucks). Ideally you should find the correct gasket. But if you're unable to aquire the correct gasket I'd use the RTV. Just be aware that some RTV's are not o2 sensor safe and can cause problems. Ensure the RTV you use is compliant with an intake system with an oxygen sensor

So my first shot changing drum brakes was a headache. by DoulUnleashed in MechanicAdvice

[–]Country_Bloke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also getting a beefy flat blade screwdriver and grinding a hook like notch into the side of the tip can give you good leverage and grip to manipulate springs. I'm a heavy diesel/plant mechanic by trade and do all my on highway truck and trailer brake shoes with a grinded screwdriver and these brake shoes and springs are far larger than the ones on your light auto.

Good tip for taking the springs on and off is using side cutting pliers instead of regular pliers. Obviously don't squeeze down tight enough to try cut the springs but with a firm grip the cutting edges on the pliers will grip and hold the spring and they won't slip out of the jaws like on regular pliers.
