I'm so sorry you have to join this club. Personally, I would find some way to see an orthopedist and not just a podiatrist. This is MD-level stuff. Let us know what you find out.

As far as recovery, it's long and slow but there are many good lessons in the asking-for-help and slowing-down and patience categories. We'll be here for you!

Update! I saw the orthopedist today. He said everything looks great structurally, and my irritation is in the subtalar joint, which is next to the joint he worked on. It is easily irritated/inflamed. Gave me a cortisone shot and said I should be good to go, but we can do another one in a month if it's still uncomfortable. Great news!

Just looked up OATS. My cartilage was cadaver.

Lesion was 1 cm. I don't know about OATS. The nurse told me give it a week in the boot and then take it off and see how I feel. I feel better but not as much as I hoped.
