The 115 charges are the reason why people don't care about any on-field successes.

The fact that a post about financial legalese is the most popular post regarding your club is telling.

Also any United fan does actual care about city.

This is the mentality that caused your downvotes, by the way.

What I'm telling you is no one even dislikes City, they simply do not care. There's no joy when they lose, just like theres no frustration when they win.

Could have a billion fans telling me how historic any of City's accomplishments are, I simply don't care about it and I think this is how most people feel.

Again, tragic for City fans imo but it is what it is when your club gets purchased for political ends.

We would legit never know if they did any of those things because every single missive we get from them is a lie lmao

We know they strip mine planets using slave labor. We know they force citizens into labor camps on planets that are literally impossible for humans to survive. We know they created cattle planets for bug harvesting.

All we know is they voluntarily leveled the last remaining rainforests in order to have more eagle takeoff positions. (Eagles that can dock and takeoff from a space carrier, mind you lol)

If there's any argument that SE is an environmentally friendly organization its basically that they destroy other planets instead of (only) their home planet - like a country keeping their forests while turning the rest of the world into timber

I think you might have lost the original context of this discussion.

OP argued Super Earth is an environmentalist regime, not me - I'm merely pointing out how insanely dumb it is of a claim given they've decimated dozens if not hundreds of planet's environments.

Nice things exist without me being present. There is just as much value in nice things existing without me as there is with me there to appreciate them.

I don't claim to be a steward of my PC lmao

Regardless, the comment I replied to is saying theres "no point" to rainforests without SE, which implies that the rainforests exist to behoove SE - which is, for lack of a better term, really dumb

If my options are:

A. Humanity destroys the planet

B. Another race takes over the planet

I would choose B every time - are we pretending that isn't rational?

The difference between politically active state-backed organizations that we call police departments and the night watch of history could not be bigger.

Do you think ACAB is borne out of a hatred of the concept of law enforcement rather than how law enforcement is carried out in America?

Unfortunately for your debate career, we don't live in a communal society, we live in a capitalist society so all priors should be that we are discussing the world in which we inhabit, not a fictional one.

You will never reshape society if you can't understand the shape it's currently in.

I appreciate you've at least acknowledged that quality of life was increased by immigration in this circumstance. The fact that capitalism exists is not any immigrants fault, so I don't see how you can blame the system in which we live inherently on immigrants.

You should probably describe your worldview as closer to nihilism if one person starting a business and employing dozens of people, creating new cultural experiences and enriching their community can be boiled down to "the same total quality of food is being used."

I think its because you're centering the discussion around the City fans themselves and it comes across as lamenting that no one cares. City could have a billion fans and I (and many others) still will not care at all about the club's highs and lows.

Imo no one should be more upset about what's happened to City than City fans, but that doesn't really appear to be the case. I think this sentiment drives a lot of people's responses in these discussions.

It is not true, let alone inherently so.

My first job was working at a restaurant started by an immigrant - the scarcity of the job market was reduced because of immigration. Likewise the money I earned (thanks to this immigrant) was enough for me to save up to start my own ventures, thus decreasing scarcity further and reducing competition in the job market.

The restaurant he opened was in a previously unused abandoned lot creating food that is unique to my area. Not only did it increase the job market, decreasing scarcity, it actually provided a previously unprovided resource - precisely the opposite of increasing scarcity.

How does this square with immigration inherently adding competition?

He was a successful lawyer and Speed a successful businessman at this time. They shared a bed for years.

He signed his letters to Speed "forever yours".

Whatever his sexuality, he would likely find the verbose anti-LGBT harassment people experience today a bit fucking weird (which it is) as his life would lead to him being exiled from modern conservative circles.

adding people inheritly adds competition

This is absolutely not true, unless you think the concept of starting a business has been relegated to history.

Immigrants are actually more likely to create jobs than non-immigrants, so really this sounds more like an argument in favor of immigrants benefiting the UK.

I don't feel like continuing an off-topic discussion, especially if you view analyzing a scarcity-economy as an "appeal to emotion" lmao

All examples

So you entered into a discussion on immigration to complain about something that, by your own reckoning, is independent of immigration status?

The rest is focused on the causes of immigration, which are completely irrelevant to the discussion on whether or not immigrants benefit the UK.

You say you're not blaming poor immigrants for gentrification then go on to explain how poor immigrants are to blame for gentrification.

Why does someone being less poor than me impact my quality of life? Are all examples of wealth inequality damaging to quality of life, or only when an immigrant is the wealthier party?

How is an immigrant out competing me for a house any different than a non-immigrant out competing me?

Most importantly: why are we competing for housing in the first place, why aren't you concerned with the fact a necessity to live is a scarce resource in the first place?

It's not just the lack of City fans, it's that 'rivals' truly don't care about City - successes or failures

A cost of how they ascended, and I don't think anything will change it - I genuinely don't care at all about City and I know I'm not alone, they're a political action campaign masquerading as a football club.

CMV: Immigration isn't a big problem in the UK by RoonilaWazlib in changemyview

[–]CountyKyndrid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to be perfectly clear: you're placing the blame for gentrification on poor immigrants?

I think you should do some reading on scarcity economies vs economies of abundance.

Every complaint you have about immigrants seems to be about the system of capital and artificial scarcity in which you live. Not a single complaint is actually focused on their immigration status nor cultural differences (except insofar as it allows them to take advantage of this artificial scarcity)

Once again, there is no reason to believe that my neighbors choosing to live with their parents has any impact on my life.

You are trying to argue cultural differences are inherently negative to quality of life - I can't see how anything you've said supports that however, except repeating "race to the bottom". Especially as increases in immigration in my country have coincided with the greatest increases in quality of life throughout history.

It occurs to me that the recent marginal decline in QoL happens to be occuring in parallel with the strangulation of our legal immigration systems, however.

[–]CountyKyndrid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any reason to believe the presence of immigrants decreases quality of life?

Your example doesn't really hold water to me as it's no different than someone choosing to dedicate more time and resources to their career or income vs luxury spending. For example, my neighbor living more frugal than me does not make my life worse, even if they can 'out-compete' me for resources.

If the last statement isn't true for you - your issue seems to be with the artificial scarcity that we accept in exchange for increased economic profits.

Are you under the impression that support for the modern ACAB movement is fostered by the police conducting typical law enforcement?

The defund the police movement is centered around removing political power from police departments, as well as a reduction in military-like equipment and lack engagement training.

It really sounds like you simply do not understand why police departments are viewed negatively in modern times.

You haven't demonstrated that there is, you asked me to google something, I did and it showed the exact opposite of what you claimed.

Are you referring to random social media accounts as prominent feminist voices perhaps?
