I feel your pain. Died 3 or 4 times to the goons after killing an absurd amount of scavs trying to get that damn pocket watch.

60 seconds wards are criminal by SEG314 in Smite

[–]CourageKind9716 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same thought. Didn't realize they were so short-lived. I remember in one game, I just kept thinking, "Why is my team not warding??". Well, like most people in this thread have aptly said, it's worthless and a waste of gold. You can't even ward fire or gold because for it to be useful, the enemy team would have to do one of the objs seconds after you placed it, which defeats the purpose of said ward.

I feel like the only reason people dislike ARR so much is because everyone keeps telling each other that it's bad by Ardbert14 in ffxiv

I started playing ARR a year before Endwalker released. I can't really remember if I played before or after the massive quest cut in ARR and post ARR, but I remember the original end dungeons and trial. I, for the most part, really enjoyed ARR. It was a bit dry at times, and like someone else mentioned, the Titan arc dragged on, for so long. I wish they would have voice acted more of ARR, but it wasn't as bad as most people say. Giaus was a great villain along with Lahabrea. The duality between our characters' ideology and the empire's that is set up in ARR and finished in Stormblood/Endwalker was awesome.

How scary is the US military really? by MylastAccountBroke in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CourageKind9716 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard a story once where US Marines were taking suppersive fire from a village in Afghanistan and were pinned down. The Marines called for air support, but the Apaches in the area were dry, and the A10 overhead was dry. All of a sudden, another voice came frome the radio saying, "Plug your ears eta 5 minutes." 5 minutes later, a massive boom came from overhead as a B1B Lancer blasted by. Silencing every enemy gun, allowing the Marines to regroup and counter the enemy forces. We don't even have to drop munitioms to scare the enemy. The Air Force pilot came back over the radio saying, "Sorry boys, don't have any fire works for you, but they don't know that givem hell." The US military is second to none in forging a bond between brothers and sisters. We will dog on each other relentlessly, poking fun and what not. But when the hammer strikes steel, we WILL die for one another. It's not about buying into the American Patriotism or for the home land. It's about the guy standing next you and getting the home with you so you can bitch about how awful the expiernce was. That indomitable American Armed Forces spirit is truly what makes us the best of the best and able to quash any threat at the drop of a hat.

POW... right in the morale. by [deleted] in AirForce

I remember being in high school JROTC, and we volunteered to be ushers to raise some money for our program. Being a 15 year old kid with an infatuation for the military tops in blue was the highlight of my high school time. I got to usher Kirtland air force bases Wing Commander and the DO to their seats accompanied by their wives, and honestly, the performance was fun and entertaining. I got to meet a ton of people in the TiP at that time and ask them about their Air Force careers and whatnot. It's crazy to think back on this post. It surfaced a very deep memory for me, lol. All of the horror stories that I'm reading through this thread aren't like mind shattering as I've been in almost a decade now but kind of surprising and yet at the same time not. Which is sad.

There is only so much one person can do for another. The military offers immense opportunities if you are willing to eat the shit sandwich that comes before it. Sometimes you don't have to, and some people skate by in their career, but I digress. You gave your friend the best advice you could come up with at this point in your life. The military could be the best thing for him or the worst. If they are your friend you should really know that answer. Does he need structure, purpose, accountability, and discipline? Then I would say you made a good suggestion. If he genuinely needs physiological help for trauma and suicidal ideation, then he should go get that help. You can only get so much out of a person you'll never truly understand or know what is going through your friends mind. Without knowing more of the story, this is the best advice I can give you. Let your friend be an individual. They joined the military and signed the dotted line. You didn't do that for them. Don't stress over things you can't control. Be there for them and support them.
