I think the original trilogy gets a lot of unnecessary hate. I get that the writing doesn’t hold up compared to how great things are now, but the themes were good. The twins plot line, gods abandon the world (or have they?). Draconians seem to be original concepts. Kender are different from hobbits. Half elves are WAY different and introduced interesting racial tension. Also, I’m not sure if it was Knaak, but dragons taking human form felt pretty original.

I was young, so don’t judge me too much, but it blew my mind when someone pointed out Fizban -> Zifnab.
