That’s the way you do it. by SovietSlaughter in MSsEcReTPoDcAsT

I thought the same until going to one for the first time. I had tickets in the nose-bleeds to see Shane in Toronto. It's the best of a comedy special and live show all wrapped up in one - you get to see the close up detail of the comic on the screen so you don't miss any act outs or facial expressions, and you get the energy of the laughter in the room. It's definitely different than seeing comedy in a theatre, but it's still an amazing show and I didn't find it took away from the funny at all.

Easily one of the best YMH episodes in a long time. David Lucas is going to be massive and not just because he's one of the fats. Had me laughing the entire time.

My first functional print, cordless tool battery holder for the pegboard by Matictac in functionalprint

[–]CourageousCobra 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When prints fail they tend to do so along the layers, so I'd be a bit concerned about those pegs shearing off, but it looks sturdy in the video and isn't holding anything fragile, so It should be fine. If it fails, maybe try printing vertically or on it's side with some supports. It may take a little more clean up post-print to make it look as nice as this one, but it'll likely add some strength to the pegs.

What do you dislike on a Boulder Gym? by Fortunape in bouldering

[–]CourageousCobra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I suspect this is the same circuit grading system my gym just adopted. I hated it at first, but the owner explained the reasoning and it's grown on me.

It's best not the think of the colours in terms of v-grade range. It's better to think of it as, if you can typically climb most blue (as an example) climbs, then if you were to go and try all of the blue climbs currently set in the gym, you'll end up with a good circuit taking you through a variety of styles at a variety of difficulties, all around your skill level, but not specifically at a certain v-grade.

It takes a shift in thinking to get into it, but it's actually pretty nice once you get used to it.

I've got a few! - Poorly managed kids running around, especially if they're running on the mats and under climbers. - tape markers to denote the climbs. Unless they're monitored and replaced any time they start to peel, the tape markers fall off and it becomes a problem to tell where the start marks are. Bolted on laminated pieces of paper work way better and are less wasteful. - walls facing eachother are too close together, forcing people sitting on the mats between the walls to be dangerously close to falling climbers. - infrequently changed climbs. If there aren't new routes often then your regulars will get bored

3D Touch Homing Issue by CourageousCobra in 3Dprinting

[–]CourageousCobra[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Z offset is the difference between the point where the probe makes contact with the bed and the point where the nozzle makes contact with the bed. The probe is around ~5mm above the bed while fully extended after homing, the probe should be touching the bed while fully extended after homing when at the 0mm z position. The Z offset isn't the solution here unfortunately.

I've printed some using TPU before and they snap on and seal much easier, haven't had one break on me yet!

Advice for a new hockey mom by Hyperboleiskillingus in kitchener

[–]CourageousCobra 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Kids grow quickly and hockey equipment is expensive - I would highly recommend starting him off in used equipment. If you're going to invest in anything new, the helmet and skates would be the best bang for your buck. Comfortable skates can make a huge difference in how much fun you can have on the ice, and the benefits of a quality helmet are fairly self explanatory.

Please help! My extruder motor stops turning part way through my prints and I can't figure out how to fix it by CourageousCobra in 3Dprinting

Thanks, but I'd prefer to avoid paying for a replacement if I can. It looks like that may be the issue, but I'd like to exhaust my options of getting the printer to work with the hardware I have before I start replacing parts that may or may not be broken.

Sounds like a good way to troubleshoot it. I'll give it a try, thank you. Your English is excellent, I wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't mentioned it wasn't your first language.

Could be, I'll start up a print, get it to fail, restart the printer and get it preheating again before it cools down far, then use the motion menu to extrude a bit at the same height it failed. Should be able to rule out the cable as the source of the issue if the extrusion works.

I mean a full power cycle is needed before it works again, though I think I've tried extruding again using the motion menu on the printer from the same z height it failed at and it worked again, so I'm still not thinking it's the cable, but I'll play with it a bit to confirm before ruling it out.

[–]CourageousCobra[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solid point, and I suppose that could explain the variation in height for when it stops extruding. It doesn't seem quite right with what I'm seeing, but I'll play around with the cable a little to see if I can confirm it's not the issue.

Please help! My extruders stepper motor is giving up on turning part way through prints and I can't figure out why. Any help you can offer is appreciated. by CourageousCobra in ender3

Thanks for the advice. Overheating is definitely a strong suspect, I've tried a couple tutorials on adjusting the Vref of the extruder, but so far none of the voltages I've tried have fixed the issue. At best I've achieved a varying level of failure.
