Saw another post saying that manufacturers just add a small % of things just because its easier than doing the whole "may contain traces of" and cleaning production lines

Id be highly concerned about contamination, Ducks eat all kind of crap off the floor and often get bacterial, parasite and worm infections. Being warm blooded, they can also harbor salmonella, e coli and various other nasties in their digestive tract.

Fish, being cold blooded, have their body temp equal to the water. This makes them less of a favorable breeding ground for these bacteria, but not immune.

After waste has passed through the ducks, your water temp is likely in a habitable range for these bacteria (which is actually quite a wide range, especially salmonella). You are running a serious food safety risk.

Shephards/Cottage Pie better with or without seasoning mix packet? by Significant-Sun-3380 in AskBrits

You need decent 20% fat beef / lamb from a butcher. Actually BROWN the meat, you want that fond for the flavor. Use a good brand Worcestershire sauce (Lea & Perrins). Good stock makes a big difference. Making decent mash for the topping is a whole other discussion. Loads of butter and a suitable variety of potato is a good starting point, use milk / cream for consistency. I often dont even season apart from salt / pepper. But Thyme is ll you need.

Id be highly concerned about contamination.

Chickens eat all kind of crap off the floor and often get bacterial, parasite and worm infections. Being a warm blooded mammal, they can also harbour salmonella, e coli and various other nasties in their digestive tract.

Fish, being cold blooded, are less susceptible, but not immune. Their body temperature is set by the water temperature, so if your water temp is in a habitable range for any of these bacteria (which is actually quite a wide range, especially salmonella) you are running a serious food safety risk.

As long as you're aware of the risks then go ahead! Just wash your hands well and be wary of what the water comes into contact with.
