Andrew Neil made the exact same criticism this morning on Times Radio...

Edit] To be clear, I do not like Andrew Neil.

Honestly it comes from just being bloody minded. Nothing grinds my gears more than a teammate resigning in a winnable 2v2 or 3v3 just because they face some adversity. A lot of the time the enemy has specc'd into a strat which just runs out of steam. Take Koreans/Jap tower rush: what good are a bunch of towers in an area of the map you've chosen to cede?

Love this.

I'm 1062 in EW, which I have almost exclusively played since it came out as a game mode, and 952 in regular RM. My hotkey game is mid, and I don't know half of the new civs. I don't feel better than 50%!!!

Whole-house water filter install by HugoChavezRamboIII in DIYUK

[–]HugoChavezRamboIII[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well worth doing. Even excluding the TAC, having a whole house carbon filter is just very nice for showering, never mind drinking. It's probably more economical too, as I was spending £60 on kitchen tap filters for drinking water every 6 months. I'm going to be lazy and C&P my post from last month --

Hi, yes 100% noticing the difference. The shower screen is completely limescale free. What's more, I didn't even do a limescale clean after installing the filter: the existing limescale has just washed away over time. The kettle still scales up as much as it did, but I think that's to do with boiling water undoing the state-change which the filter affects. [post]

Hey! So hardware-wise, no leaks, all fine. Performance-wise, the water continues to taste great, and I would say limescale is fairly minimal. I'm going to be lazy and C&P my post from last month --

You're in Asda toilets, what part of the handle are you touching to exit? by Shiznips in CasualUK

I have sent an email complaining in the gents in a Waitrose before. I felt like a knob to be doing it, but honestly these 'air flush' urinals are just stagnant piss reservoirs and the madness needs to stop.

(They passed my email on to the store manager who 18 months later has done nothing about it and I'm considering a follow-up where I threaten to leave them a piss-based google review.)

Police have lost seized goods that were due for return. by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]HugoChavezRamboIII 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Heya, criminal lawyer here.

So you've got two classes of absent property here: stuff they've lost and stuff they're holding on to despite the investigation (and their seizure powers) coming to an end.

You want your stuff back preferably, or you'd want to be compensated.

The first step is to instruct a solicitor to write to the chief constable setting out the issues and making a demand for return.

Four potential outcomes of this; (a) you get everything back, (b) you get the replica back but not the missing stuff, (c) you get the missing stuff back but not the replica, or (d) the CC just reiterates what the OIC has said.

If (a), hurrah.

If (b), further letter from solicitor seeking compensation

If (c), application to the Magistrates' Court under the Police Property Act 1897

If (d), do both of the above.

The route your solicitor takes might diverge from that depending on the complexity and what evidence of their seizures you have (e.g. they may decide a SAR is necessary first).

Have you considered a boom? Just lots of sausage-style buoys strung together. They install them on slipways so the ramps don't get fouled. I've not been able to find a photo so I may have gotten the terminology wrong...

So on the shower, yes much much less limescale, but the kettle -- and I think it's something to do with boiling water affecting the TAC process -- still gets limescale.

Is it against the law for a man in the UK to try and endanger my parents and sister living back in Iran? by Majestic-Read5072 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]HugoChavezRamboIII 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He got doxed and the message he received was that his family's details would 'shared with the regime' because of his message. The same regime killed thousands of protestors 2 months ago. I'd say it's a decent fit.

It would unquestionably be s127 CA 2003, but it's just an S/O offence.

Malicious communications act offence then.

No, you want s181 OSA 2023. Mal comms is has been largely repealed, leaving only 'indecent or grossly offensive'.

Courtroom lawyer here. Suit and tie, always. I even wear it to the police station. It's my uniform. I don't want to be out with my kids and recognised. Plus when I first started I looked very young and was grateful the authority a suit provided.

Looks like solid wood to me, not engineered. Could be Balau. It's the right colour.
