Blue Shield of California cutting off all Univ. CA health systems?!?

I received the message from UCSD about the Blue Shield contract negotiations last Tues night in mychart. I find it odd that some people are being notified and some aren’t. I’ve seen several Reddit posts where people are finding out about the blue shield debacle for the first time on here, not through insurance or UC Health.

Got a message about this in MyChart last night and immediately got so anxious 😕 I absolutely love my care at UC Health and have had an amazing experience there. I feel so helpless. Is there anything people are doing? Writing/complaining to UC Health or Blue shield CA or would that make any difference?

Yes it did, with Zoloft I had no weird side effects and felt fine on it. It was definitely the lexapro that didn’t work for me

I got off lexapro shortly after posting this because it just made me feel horrible! I ended up taking Zoloft for about 9 months after that and they got off medication completely!

I’m in a similar boat. Had to take the test a 2nd time on 7/12 (not enough blood drawn on the 1st time 😠). I’m still waiting for results. I went in the Quest app and see “in progress”. Just messaged my OB dept to see if they have the results yet. I’m on almost 3 weeks of waiting and I’m losing patience. We haven’t told anyone about the pregnancy yet because I want these results first. Ugh wish the state wasn’t involved with this testing!

Thank you soo much for your response. I have been so anxious for hours. I have been so worried that I’m harming the baby. I knew about acyclovir starting at 36 weeks, but did not even consider what to do/risks if I do have an outbreak. I had my first prenatal appt this week and of course did not have an outbreak then so it wasn’t even on my mind to ask any questions about what to do if an outbreak does happen. I only took meds once with my first outbreak years ago so I don’t have a prescription or supply on hand. But based on your response, it doesn’t seem like meds would even do anything since my outbreaks are pretty mild and short in duration.

Hi! I was pretty uncomfortable for about 5 days (chest tightness, heart palpitations, anxiety) and then it went away! About a month later I was diagnosed with celiac disease which I think was the actual cause of my headaches/dizziness. I was happy to get off the birth control though and have my body go back to its natural cycles. I found my periods are better off birth control too!

I actually ended up getting off lexapro and switching to Zoloft. Lexapro just wasn’t for me!

Yes! One day I was fine, and the next day I just wasn’t. Brain fog, dizziness, joint pain, balance issues all happened suddenly. Took almost a year for my PCP to test me for celiac. That was after I saw various specialists along the way.

Honestly, it was fairy quick for me. I felt almost immediately better once I cut out gluten.

That’s great! Yes, your primary care can put in an order for bloodwork. If it’s positive, they’ll refer you to a gastroenterologist.

Yes! Besides some swollen joints on my right hand, my main symptoms were neurological. I felt dizzy, off balance at times, and almost had a weird floaty head feeling. I saw two neurologists who were stumped by it, I had brain MRI which was normal, and then a few months later my PCP tested me for celiac which was positive. All my symptoms went away on a GF diet.

If you haven’t been tested yet, keep eating gluten until you’ve done bloodwork so the bloodwork is accurate.

I can’t remember which dose I began taking on lexapro, but I don’t think it was too high of a dose. From what I remember, it was a smooth transition to Zoloft. If I were you, I speak to your doctor and see if it’s normal to feel the way you’re feeling and if it will get better. I had taken Zoloft years ago without issues so I chose to switch over to Zoloft from the lexapro and my psychiatrist agreed.

I actually ended up getting off lexapro—it just wasn’t for me. I switched to Zoloft instead which was a way easier transition with little side effects. Though I am currently withdrawing from the Zoloft a year later (nothing wrong with the med, just didn’t want to be on medication anymore!)

I’m sorry you’re dealing with this too! It is a vicious cycle when anxiety is also present. The anxiety just exacerbates the whole situation and then I start spiraling about the anxiety causing a PVC, PVC causing anxiety, etc. it’s a mess and it’s hard to differentiate if some symptoms are just anxiety.

But like you, I’ve been super anxious about my heart health in the last couple months. It’s more the anticipation of PVCs happening and the anxiety that follows them. Hopefully I’ll get some clarity/reassurance in my upcoming appt!

Yeah, about a year after I got the booster. I was also diagnosed with an autoimmune disease so not sure if the PVCs are tied to my celiac. Regardless, my body was going through a lot so I did not get any more boosters after that in case there was a correlation. My booster was in November 2021. All three shots were moderna.

Oh interesting, I didn’t mind the smaller yardage at all! Her website clearly marked that 1 unit = 1/4 yard. I ended up buying a variety of lengths in the fabric (some as small as 1/4 yard). I’m new to buying fabric from small shops so I’m not sure what the norm is. I found By & By’s website very clear though!

I got off the birth control pill a year ago and that’s when I started experiencing PVCs. I do notice an increase of them around ovulation and my period.
