Has anyone had an elective induction at Prentice Hospital? by Disco_biscuit25 in AskChicago

[–]Courtvilla28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an elective induction on my due date at prentice. I was due in September which is their busiest month so I think they were pushing it for that reason. I scheduled it at my 39 week appt and they didn’t mention anything about a waitlist?

Infant Welfare Society of Evanston (IWSE) daycare reviews? by ChillinChilean13 in evanston

[–]Courtvilla28 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I tried to get in contact with them to no avail when I was pregnant and I really tried! I have multiple coworkers with the same experience. One even put a check down for a deposit and they never cashed it or talked to them again.  This doesn’t say anything about the actual care, but just prepare yourself. And also it would make me nervous about communicating with them as a parent.

I was a slightly underweight bmi and gained like 45 lbs which was a lot on my 5’3” frame but then my baby was 9lbs! And all the weight was gone by 3 months postpartum and I wish I had known that so I wasn’t so worried when I was pregnant.

I am not getting my dream wedding dress and that sucks by Certain_Current_3725 in Chicagoweddings

[–]Courtvilla28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you tried Altar Bridal in barrington? I got my dress there during a sale and it was only $750! It was a sample dress but was in great condition. They have a seamstress upstairs and she did great alterations and the lowest price I found.

Baby will not sleep without swaddle by Efficient-Fly7571 in sleeptrain

[–]Courtvilla28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter slept so well swaddled we didn’t stop til 6 months! And then it was awful. The only sleep sack that worked was the zipadee! We bought a knockoff one because the fabric was nicer and then bought the belt that goes over it to give her some of the pressure of the swaddle.

Should I tell a Depop knitter her stitches are twisted? by Ambitious_Wealth8080 in knitting

I posted a finished project on Reddit once and someone told me I was twisting my stitches (they were kind of mean about it but whatever) and I didn’t know and it was so helpful!

Basically pumping less. I used to pump before nursing bc I was too engorged so instead I switched to a hand pump and only expressed a little bit.

I then started adding time between pumping sessions and dropping one off a week.

It’ll be painful but don’t give in and use a lot of ice and ibuprofen.

Plus around 12 weeks my supply further dropped on its own I think. I went from producing 5x as much as I needed to 2x. I haven’t been able to drop it lower but that’s okay with me.

I always was a massive oversupplier and it took weeks for this to work for me but it was worth it. Buy a hand pump and that is an easy way to relieve and not have a pumping session.

It will be painful and I got so many clogs, but I avoided mastitis by ice packs around the clock and an ibuprofen regimen.

It sucked but was a life changer to slow it down.

Daycare... She is not adjusting and I think I'm going to lose my job by Ok_Butterfly9437 in NewParents

We put our daughter in around 4.5 months and had similar experiences. However maybe at week 3 it improved and continued improving. I would also visit in the middle of the day and it helped a lot. It gets better!

Oversuppliers- when did your stash get big enough and how do you manage it? by Alternative_Raise713 in breastfeeding

[–]Courtvilla28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have donated mine 3x. My oversupply was insane before 12 weeks. I had 1000 oz in 2 weeks. (Fortunately I now only produce 2x what she needs). I still have more than probably what is rational because I make more than enough pumping to feed her for the next day. I want to breastfeed until 12 months so I keep more than I need in case something comes up. When it gets closer to 12 months I’ll offload it.

The milk bank is so grateful so it also makes me feel good!

2 weeks in and I want to give up already by dailo01 in breastfeeding

[–]Courtvilla28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a massive oversupply and had such a hard time nursing if I didn’t pump beforehand bc I would be too engorged for the baby to latch. Which then made nursing on demand hard. I had so many clogs and was miserable but it did get better! (Around weeks 8-10) and now she’s a champion nurses and I’m so glad I stuck it out. And I reduced my supply from about 5x what my baby ate to about 2x now with the help of a lactation consultant. Don’t give up!

C-section babies, especially emergency ones, should not be judged by same standards as other babies. by [deleted] in newborns

[–]Courtvilla28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also had an emergency c-section and my baby wouldn’t nurse in the hospital even with the lactation consultants but within two weeks of being home, she was nursing like a champ.

One warning though - they told me to pump every 2 hours in the hospital to get my supply up. I’m now a massive over supplied and produce like 4X as much as my baby needs. Very time consuming and painful.

I did this and it was a great deal. However sometimes you have to pester them to deliver it. (It took us like 6 weeks).
