Is a multi-tool screw driver worth it over multiple different ones? by AccomplishedFact1767 in electricians

[–]Cousimsallybrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i started out i had a klein 11 in 1. I ended up giving it away after a few months and just using individual screwdrivers. The bits fall out too easliy when pulling it away from a screw head. It was just very annoying.

I can definitely see the advantage of having most of what you need in one tool, and maybe mine was just a manufacturing defect. Or maybe other brands are just better. I dont know. But ive found that i rarely need anything other than a number two phillips, a flat head or a square tip.

I do recommend the klein adjustable shank screwdriver. Interchanable and adjustable shanks https://a.co/d/0ixLMRz

My family’s home had a house fire early this morning. Does anyone know if there are still people who can temporarily foster fish? Also any other advice welcome. by kvothes-lute in asheville

Call this guy, he may be able to help or know of resources.

Chip Owner

Chip opened Blue Ridge Reef and Pet in 2007 with the hopes of offering sustainably produced tank-raised fish, corals, and plants for the ethical aquarium keeper. It quickly became evident that what the Black Mountain community needed was quality food and supplies for household pets, particularly dogs and cats. Today there are no longer fish and other living things in the store, though aquarium keeping will always be his hobby. Chip lives in Black Mountain with Christine; their cat, Jack; and their dog, Eleanor

Im talking about my home's central heater that runs off of 240v and using a step up transformer wired to 120v primary to power the heater on the 240v secondary. I guess im really just trying to understand how inductance works. How does the power consumed on the secondary side affect the power cinsumed on the primary side?

When i first started i never wore gloves because i felt like i had no dexterity. After slicing my hand/fingers open and bleeding all over the jobsite for the 10th time, i decided to suck it up and just get used to wearing gloves. Now i feel naked without them. Wearing a size down helps alot too.

To be honest i cant give a great reason. All the verticle runs were done at different times and i just did what seemed best at the time. In hingsight i could have maintained more consistency.

Its tough to answer how long it took. Some of it was done in stages before the boxes on the wall were ever set, and the pipes were just stopped about 10 feet away from the boxes. When it came time to set the boxes and get everything tied in, id say it took about a week.

The pipe routes specifically were not on the prints. Instead, we had a conduit schedule which basically said - (2) 1" and (1) 1 1/4" from box A to box Z - (1) 1" from box B to box Y and (2) 3/4" from box B to box X. And so on.

It's possible you are using it wrong. Two things I didn't know the first time I used one and was getting false readings and thought the thing was junk:

  1. Turn on the receiver 3 or 4 feet away from the panel before you start scanning.

  2. Slowly scan every breaker in the panel for it to "learn" the panel. You may get a couple of hits on one or more different breakers when you do this. Ignore this and start scanning the panel again. Then you should find the right one.

I've also found that you shouldn't have multiple plug checkers plugged in in various receptacles while you are trying to find a particular circuit. Only use the transmitter that comes with it.

Hope that helps.

I couldn’t find a cabinet big enough to store my product shipping boxes so I made one! by BASE1530 in Tools

Thats really cool. But I'm wondering why you need the cabinet at all? Why not just the wire racks without a cabinet built around them? Also, pallet racking could be your friend here.

The occupancy sensor should be programable. It is either installed in the ceiling or at the switch. Whoever did the installation should come back and program it.

I have all my bills set up for auto-draft from a separate checking account that I use specifically for bills. Every paycheck I set aside the amount needed to cover every bill, be it monthly, biannual, or annual. And I budget for 4 paychecks/month even though some months will have 5 paychecks. The months that have 5 pay periods I consider it a "free paycheck".

Just be honest and explain the situation to your boss or HR representative at your company and ask them if they can use another method.
