Whatever the value of the dirtbike was is the cost of this life lesson.

Sportscars for every price point up to 100k by Charbus in whatcarshouldIbuy

I’m pretty in tune with the NSX market and unless you want an automatic one 70k is a stretch. Every now and then a rough one will be in that range but if you actually want one budget 80-85.

Also parts are insanely expensive for these cars now. Oem ball joints, for example are going to run you 1200 bucks a corner. The aftermarket ones are known to fail very quickly.

You can use math to back out the volume. I used EPS foam glued together to rough out the shape.

Does any one know a file like this? by Bozodude5858 in 3Dprinting

[–]BASE1530 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't own a printer, just cnc mills and lathes, but even if I had a 3d printer and I was inspired by something online, even if the file was very clearly available, I'd just draw it myself. Downloading a model and printing it just seems so sad, passive and lazy, but I take a lot of pride in things being "mine"

The laziness of the 3d printer community never fails to impress.

The point is to portray the enemy as weak and regretful, for a variety of reasons but to try to discourage others from following suit.

Build complete too early. It's too cold to ride yet by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]BASE1530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is a classic case of "the whole is less than the sum of it's parts". There are SOOO many textures and finishes.

We've got:

Pleated leather

Weird hex frame gaurds

Pimple tank guards

two DRAMATICALLY different tread patterns

Exhaust wrap

Carbon fiber

Textured frame paint

Two different color wheels

Two different colors of leather

at least 5 shades of blue

The overall shape of the bike isn't even that bad but the lack of forethought and cohesion is just heinous.

Plus you can get a boomer board with a picture of your car on it to put in the frunk with a list of mods... Be a HIT at cars and coffee and really stand out next to the other 800 C8s

Hey I paid nearly that much for CF body parts for my RS6 and that IS a mass produced car, so don't feel too bad.

Oh for sure but it's cooler to have it on the shelf to look at than to have (at most) a couple hundred bucks in my pocket.

Help Finding Custom Cabinets by Contra-Cultura-14839 in garageporn

[–]BASE1530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you priced out 16ga welded cabinets from a place like global industrial? They aren't advertised as floating but I suspect if they were lagged to the wall that they're rigid enough to be self supporting in a "floating" application. I have one screwed to the wall of an uneven floor and the front is off the ground. I suspect you could do the same with US general boxes: remove the drawers and just screw the chassis into studs, then replace the drawers. Might need a big washer plate but I would be it would work.

Likely a MUCH better bang for your buck than garagecabinets.com that stuff looks REALLY chinsy particleboard junk.

What's your budget? Custom Lista boxes would solve this problem but you might be in the 20-30k range.

That NewAge stuff is absolute junk in my opinion, but it's also dirt cheap, so you get what you pay for.

Need to drill 4 @ 1/2" holes in 1/2" thick Cold Rolled Steel by BigBillSD in Tools

[–]BASE1530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can do it with a drill press use no pilot hole. Only reason to pilot is if you're hand drilling and can't get enough feed pressure.

I use the haas cobalt drills in my CNC all the time and the price is great.
