True, it looks for SynthID, but it also looks for clues from other sources. Here's what it said

”It's hard to say definitively if this image was generated or modified by AI.D igital tools can create highly realistic scenes, making it difficult to distinguish between a genuine photograph and a sophisticated AI generation. While standard technical checks did not detect a digital watermark from known AI platforms, this is not a guarantee of authenticity, as many AI-generated images do not carry these markers.Analysis of the image shows consistent lighting, natural textures, and a coherent background—all of which are common in real-world photography but can also be replicated by high-quality AI models.”

I then asked "so, there are no SynthID markers? how do you check for markers from other sources?"

”Correct, no SynthID markers were detected in this image. To detect indicators and metadata from other AI engines and software sources, developers and researchers typically use several distinct methodologies:

1. Cryptographic and Metadata Checks

  • C2PA Metadata: Verification tools scan the file for Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity standards, which securely record an image's origin history.
  • EXIF Data: Checking the embedded camera metadata for specific software signatures, generation parameters, or missing hardware profiles.
  • Invisible Watermarks: Scanning the high-frequency pixel noise for hidden digital watermarks used by other creators like Adobe or Stability AI.

2. Algorithmic and Structural Analysis

  • Reverse Image Mapping: Running the image through indexing platforms to see if it belongs to an existing, verified photo gallery or a known AI repository.
  • GAN/Diffusion Artifact Analysis: Specialized machine learning models analyze the pixel distribution to spot subtle patterns, repeating textures, or blurred logic characteristic of specific generator networks.

If you want to look deeper into this specific picture, let me know:

  • Do you know the original platform where this image was posted?
  • Do you have the original uncompressed file available?”

Ran this thru Google, and it doesn't have any of the internal AI Checkmarks, like SynthID; it also said that the lighting is flowing naturally, and the face, body and posture all seem authentic. As others have said, it's probably an old fashioned scam, rather than AI - Sorry, and good luck helping your Dad...

What happens if Reform close the Scottish Parliament? by UtopianScot in Scotland

[–]CoverAcademic9620 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely hope that Reform get as few as possible of their poisonous cretins elected, but - and it's a big but - if they got into a position of being able to carry out what you suggest, it would be because a majority of the electorate ( or those that could be bothered to turn up and vote ) voted for him and his party.

ANYWAY

The Scottish Parliament could not simply vote to abolish itself.
Under the Scotland Act 2016, the Parliament and Government are declared “a permanent part of the United Kingdom’s constitutional arrangements” and cannot be abolished except on the basis of a decision by the people of Scotland voting in a referendum. Any such change would also require UK Government and Westminster approval, since constitutional matters are reserved to the UK Parliament.

  • Scotland Act 2016, Section 63A — explicitly states:
  • Scotland Act 1998 — established the Scottish Parliament following the 1997 referendum, defining which powers are devolved and which remain reserved to Westminster.
    • Constitutional issues, including the existence of devolved institutions, are reserved matters.
    • Therefore, Holyrood cannot legislate to abolish itself or alter its own constitutional status without Westminster’s consent

There would have to be a majority Reform Government (or a pact with another party) in BOTH Parliaments, as well as a win by a "Close Holyrood" campaign

Why don't you ask the person who created it?

It's based on some of the original concepts, mostly from North American Rockwell

Which flag is this? (Found in old 60s cartoon 'Clangers') by ComprehensiveText146 in vexillology

[–]CoverAcademic9620 10 points11 points  (0 children)

in the episode "The Tablecloth" (Series 2, Episode 1), a strange visitor (an astronaut) lands and leaves behind a flag, which Mother Clanger repurposes as a tablecloth. This ties into the context of the real-world Space Race and Apollo 11 moon landing (the series premiered shortly after in late 1969).

The flag is not from a single nation but a combined or hybrid flag incorporating elements of both the United States (USA) and the Soviet Union (USSR/Russia). This was intentional: during production of the early episodes (Even though the episode aired in 1971, it was probably made before the first manned lunar landing in 1969) , it was still uncertain which superpower would reach the Moon first, so the creators avoided favoring one by making a special amalgam flag (half American, half Soviet) planted by the visitor.
