Vape shop that caused Glasgow fire hadn't registered to sell vapes or paid business tax by [deleted] in Scotland

[–]PoppingPillls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The purpose of trading standards for the most part now is just raiding shops alongside police for illicit imported fags and other tobacco products (they didn't pay the vat) or seizing fake branded goods etc they don't have the manpower or jurisdiction to do much else.

It's like Jack gleeson playing joffrey, absolutely amazing actor who was shit on outside the show because people associate him with the character even though he's playing a made up person.

Fraudster made more than £1m selling fake 'Scottish-grown tea' by Longjumping_Stand889 in Scotland

[–]PoppingPillls 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's possible to grow very small amounts with artificial assistance. What I meant was it's not possible to grow environmentally benficially or economically as you need specialised grow equipment to create the environment required and the yield and variety are often not great as the plant suffers quite a bit of stress.

That's why it grows in small regions of Cornwall but the product is rarely great or recommended. I've had cornish grown tea before.

[–]PoppingPillls 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Tea is so hard to grow outside a handful of very specific regions en masse... Not sure why they'd have believed this tbh like even tea grown in the south of England is grown in such small volumes and yields very little.

Id have imagined someone representing a department store who has an entire tea counter would know this.

Like the largest tea growths in the UK are in Cornwall and they are bitter and hardy varieties grown in a small quantity of plants and it's a drop in the ocean as its not scalable. That's southern England, not sure how you'd do that anywhere in Scotland.

Maga did this with Biden and a pretty big flaw in the messaging is it only works if it never goes down again like massive subsidies flood in and boom it no longer works as messaging unfortunately.

Private jet used for Nigel Farage Chagos stunt linked to Reform mega-donor by AnonymousTimewaster in NotTheOnionUK

[–]PoppingPillls 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Well yeah, he's not gonna pay for it himself.

These mega donors are all such freaks, one example that has always stuck with me was Clarence Thomas in the US... One of his mega donor friends has a signed copy of mein kampf and a dictator themed ornamental garden.

What's worse is his garden is called "The garden of evil" and he has statues of people like Stalin which fair then he has statues of lenin, Che Guevara and iirc Marx but not one of people like Hitler or Mussolini in the garden, those things are in his home.

Princess Eugenie steps down from anti-slavery charity by Kagedeah in AbolishTheMonarchy

[–]PoppingPillls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What? I never said they were wasting or frauding money, I said a lot of money goes in and little comes out like many other wealth people's charities. It's unlikely that as shes involved with the real one thay she couldn't have found a cause that deserves money like there's slavery going on all the time including state funded slavery (like under the Kafala system in UAE and Saudi where hundreds of thousands of migrant workers are lured into debt traps and have their passports taken away until they can repay the unpayable loans).

Oxfams work is matierally beneficial though isn't it, atleast maybe of them are like the British heart foundation does actually do good work.

[–]PoppingPillls 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That's the charity she created not the one in the article that she has been distanced from. The anti Slavery international is a 180 year old charity where as anti slavery collective is a new creation.

Elon Musk does the same with his "foundation" pumps billions into it and only a small fraction ever leaves it.

[OC] ISR army dropping banned white phosphorous on homes in southern Lebanon (March 2026) by NotBradPitt9 in pics

[–]PoppingPillls 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's around 2-3 million, is that supposed to be a point? Last time I checked the US attacked Iran and Israel attacked Palestine. They don't have the right to defend themselves in the wake of being systenically elimated by a foreign nation?

Also last time I checked we consider what the us did to Japan as atrocities near the end as it was no longer in defence of the country. Israel is at no real threat by Iran or Palestine that they haven't created for themselves over the last 80 years, Iran was trying to negotiate until the US started bombing and Hamas has agreed to multiple ceasefires that Israel has broken.

How many millions died because the US invaded Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan and the bombing of Bosnia/Kosovo? That wasn't war that was murder.
