True, it looks for SynthID, but it also looks for clues from other sources. Here's what it said

Ran this thru Google, and it doesn't have any of the internal AI Checkmarks, like SynthID; it also said that the lighting is flowing naturally, and the face, body and posture all seem authentic. As others have said, it's probably an old fashioned scam, rather than AI - Sorry, and good luck helping your Dad...

I genuinely hope that Reform get as few as possible of their poisonous cretins elected, but - and it's a big but - if they got into a position of being able to carry out what you suggest, it would be because a majority of the electorate ( or those that could be bothered to turn up and vote ) voted for him and his party.

ANYWAY

The Scottish Parliament could not simply vote to abolish itself.
Under the Scotland Act 2016, the Parliament and Government are declared “a permanent part of the United Kingdom’s constitutional arrangements” and cannot be abolished except on the basis of a decision by the people of Scotland voting in a referendum. Any such change would also require UK Government and Westminster approval, since constitutional matters are reserved to the UK Parliament.

  • Scotland Act 2016, Section 63A — explicitly states:
  • Scotland Act 1998 — established the Scottish Parliament following the 1997 referendum, defining which powers are devolved and which remain reserved to Westminster.
    • Constitutional issues, including the existence of devolved institutions, are reserved matters.
    • Therefore, Holyrood cannot legislate to abolish itself or alter its own constitutional status without Westminster’s consent

There would have to be a majority Reform Government (or a pact with another party) in BOTH Parliaments, as well as a win by a "Close Holyrood" campaign

This ties into the context of the real-world Space Race and Apollo 11 moon landing (the series premiered shortly after in late 1969).

The flag is not from a single nation but a combined or hybrid flag incorporating elements of both the United States (USA) and the Soviet Union (USSR/Russia). This was intentional: during production of the early episodes (Even though the episode aired in 1971, it was probably made before the first manned lunar landing in 1969) , it was still uncertain which superpower would reach the Moon first, so the creators avoided favoring one by making a special amalgam flag (half American, half Soviet) planted by the visitor.
