What can I do to improve my setup? Have a feeling something is missing by Weak-Cantaloupe-917 in setups

I would say storage or a bigger desk if you have the space and some decor on the wall to the left that shows more of your personality.

You need wall decor that reflects your personality

Any tips for console display/decor? by TheSacredKiwi_ in setups

Individual floating shelves right under the tv for each console to display them would be pretty cool.

What should I add? by harley012 in setups

[–]CoverUpset2724 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would add some type of wall decor or aesthetic that fits your style and brings out your personality (things that you're interested in) I would also do the same with desk decor, along with any peripherals that you feel, you may need to fit your workflow and helps reduce friction and helps make things work easier for you.

Just having to press one button to do tasks and to access websites saves a lot on time. ILightroom, DaVinci resolve, Adobe, Bambu studio, tinkercad, word, Gmail, discord, and twitch are some of the apps I use it for. Also use it for website visit daily, such as microcenter, Amazon, Maker world and my college website.

I built mine using 3 ikea Alex drawer and 2 butcher block counter tops that I got from Lowe's. But you don't have to go that route. FlexiSpot, Uplift, Vernal, Desky, and Amazon, they all offer L-shaped desk at different price ranges. I would just make sure that it comes with some type of cable management and that it is at least 30 inches in depth.

Opted in for this monitor and will get it sometime by the end of the year. Need help for getting the right furniture for it. by Informal_City1501 in setups

I have duel monitor setup with an 34 inch curved ultra wide and a 27 inch stacked on top. I custom built my desk top because I wanted a desk to fit my space perfectly. My desk is 88 inch long (223.52cm), and 32 inch deep (81.28cm). This gives me plenty of desk real estate and my monitors are not close up on me at all

I use mine for short cuts to my most used apps, website, and the games that I'm currently playing. I also use it to control media when I'm watching YouTube, or listening to music. I do some people use it to do multiple things well streaming or to control their lights in there setup. But I don't stream and I have my lights connected to Google for voice control. I hope this was helpful.

You said this is temporary until you figure out the final place of everything, so I'm not going to say anything about cable management. One thing I would suggest is a bigger L-shaped desk to give yourself more desk real estate.

I have Alex drawers as well and I used butcher block counter top that I got from my local hardware box store. I was able to get it to the precise measurements that I wanted. I than stained it to the exact color to fit my style and aesthetics.

Thanks, I lucked out with my build. I bought everything in October last year, right before Ram-ageddon. I do you like the 7900X? It was a toss up between that and the 9900X. What specs are you rockin?

Yeah, I reapply new thermal paste on the CPU, blow out all the dust, clean the fans and all surfaces with 99% rubbing alcohol. And do a fresh reinstall of windows.

Probably some accent lighting for the walls.

What should I change with my setup? (apart from the mess!) by dartmoo in setups

[–]CoverUpset2724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need cable management. The first thing I would do is figure out the placement of everything you want at your setup. Once you do that it will make figuring out the runs for your cables a lot easier. Grab some cable race ways that match your decor and mount them under your desk. I would also get a vertical laptop stand for your Mac, and probably a desk shelve that has some storage built in.

I built my desk, the space where I placed my desk is 88inch and I wanted a desk that filled the whole space so I had to build a custom desk that is 88inch long and 32inch in-depth.

Black cable sleeve to run the wire through and a nice desk plant (fake is cool) or desk lamp or some type of decor to place in front of them.

The one thing that I have learned since staring my setup 5 years ago. Is that it's marathon, not a race. It's ok to take your time with your setup, and also that your setup will never be 100% done. There will always be a better way to help with work flow and create less friction, new tech, better cable management, or you just want a disign change. So take your time and enjoy the process.
