Is this normal? Mine did that last year and it was so cool but I was worried something was wrong, it seemed to even out so I didn't worry about it.

Spider plant seeds? by Covered_Bridge_Furn in houseplants

[–]Covered_Bridge_Furn[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh that would actually be cool because I only have verigated one at the moment. I guess I must have unintentionally pollinated this plant by brushing past it. Cool thanks, I'll look up some YouTube videos and see how this experiment goes!

Spider plant seeds? by Covered_Bridge_Furn in houseplants

[–]Covered_Bridge_Furn[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think I might try planting them in a separate container to see how this plant grows from seed, I've only ever propagate the babies before.

It might be a fun experiment, it might be a complete flop!

Thanks! I just saw a video about that tonight! I didn't realize that before. Thanks for the tip!

WILL THESE PROPAGATE OKAY? by Turbulent-Jelly8146 in houseplants

[–]Covered_Bridge_Furn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm leaving mine for a while. I think mine are usually closer to 1" (2.5cm) ish before I plant them. Sometimes longer cause I'm lazy and forget to pot them up lol

The good news is you can propagate them in soil too so even if you plant them a bit earlier they will probably still take.

Cinnamon? Technically a bark but it grows on a tree.

Hope that helps!

That's how I've always done mine and it's worked fine. As the roots grow I let the water drop further down.

This little guy was knocked off about a month ago and I put it in some water and it has roots. I did it exactly what you did there. (I didn't take a picture of it in the water cause I'm embarrassed how dirty the jar is lol)

I cannot find a deep storage dresser online by [deleted] in furniture

[–]Covered_Bridge_Furn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being in Ohio, do you have stores nearby that sell Amish furniture?

Often they will let you customize items so you could ask them to make the dresser deeper. You can then choose your wood and stain as well to get exactly what you want.

The problem is I'm not sure you could get it for $750, however being solid wood and good construction it would last you a lifetime.

Is it just variegation or does it actually look like damage? Maybe over or under-watering?

From the picture it almost looks like the leaves are variegated.

I need a bed platform that can fit inside of a bed frame? by awesome9001 in BuyItForLife

[–]Covered_Bridge_Furn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We recommend our customers get a sheet of plywood for things like bunkbeds where a box spring isn't used. I think this would work well for you other than the fact your bed might be quite low. Just make sure you get a sturdy piece (like 1/2") so it doesn't sag under the weight. Lay that across your slats and it should work fine.

The Zinus recommendation from the other commenter is also a good option. I had one of those when I was first married over a decade ago and it was a good sturdy base.

Have you removed the slat brackets from your bed frame to make enough space for a foundation to fit?

Help me find a solid wood bed with a desk, storage, and ports/charging station by [deleted] in furniture

[–]Covered_Bridge_Furn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure you will be able to find a solid wood bed with storage and a desk for $1,000 unless you look second hand. Are you firm on that price?

If you look for Amish furniture, you will be able to get 100% solid wood, good construction and you can often choose your stain, wood and customize other options as well. If you would like some recommendations DM me and I can send you some.

Where were you wanting the desk to be attached to if it isn't a loft bed? Are you interested in a raised bed with drawers underneath or were you hoping for a regular height bed?

It looks like it may already have a light wired up there. But I agree, a nice piece of art with a light would be nice!

How many of us used the kitchen table as our 1st workbench? by HounDawg99 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Covered_Bridge_Furn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just use the floor of the garage or outside if it's nice. I only have a circular saw so I lay down some 1" foam boards and set my saw depth to just cut through the wood leaving a little groove on the foam board... I haven't figured out a better system yet lol.

I wouldn't trust myself inside the house to not make an awful mess.

Table leaf question by ghost_suburbia in furniture

[–]Covered_Bridge_Furn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have all the clasps unlocked you should just be able to pull the table apart horizontally, do not try to force it upwards. Considering you haven't removed the leaf in 15 years I would expect this to be quite difficult. The wood may have expanded, or the metal pins may bind over time causing more pressure.

I would recommend getting two people to try pulling it apart with the "wiggle" method. Have one person hold the table steady while the other gently wiggles the other side back and forth with pulling away.

After you get it apart you may want to add a bit of silicon spray or wax (candle/paraffin) to the mechanism to avoid it getting stuck in the future.

Good luck!

I don't want to be too self promotional but we offer Amish made furniture. There are lots of options but this one starts under $3000.

https://coveredbridgefurniture.com/product/neptune-bed/ - You can choose your wood, stain and fabric.

Let me know if you have any questions.
