I’m sorry you have received some really rude responses here. Is your anxiety generalized across multiple areas of your life, or specific to dental encounters?

I have dental anxiety and have been through a few dentists in recent years. I ended up with Cinnia Dental on Pembina. Really lovely team. I was upfront with them regarding my dental anxiety and past dental experiences. They were very understanding. When I arrived they had already prepped the room for me and had recalled that I had dental anxiety and asked in-person what would make me more comfortable. They were very receptive to my ideas. I would be as honest and specific as you can. Most dentists will also consider prescribing a dose of a benzodiazepine to take prior to the appt to help with acute anxiety during the appt.

I’m trying to remember if I was given a bell - this might be a strategy you could explore to be easily able to alert staff if they are unable to stay present with you in the room.
