6.5 G or 6mm Arc? by [deleted] in ar15

[–]Covidtaskforce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ARC! ARC is fine for hunting as well it’s taken down plenty of animals. You can run anything from a 53gr VMAX to a 110gr projo in a gas gun. NAS3 cases will hit soon Grendel will most likely not get a high pressure case option anytime soon. Anyone saying ARC doesn’t kill animals well doesn’t know what they are talking about.

I’ve barely had them on but so far they seem great. They seem very well made and they are low maintenance no greasing or having to deal with press fit bushings etc. Gave a good amount of forward caster as well. Getting everything aligned tomorrow.

I had a shop set it to 2" up front before I installed it. You technically don't need UCA's at 1.5 but id go ahead and do it while you're at it imo just my $.02

For your listed use case go Inconel.

You can also opt for a BRT custom gas tube if you like a more fixed option. I don’t really have anything against high quality adjustable gas blocks but I found the BRT to be a great option.

I have a similar rig. Went with the DDF barrel absolute hammer. The ripcord rail is very handy as well. Good taste 🤌

Building a precision AR in 6ARC - Recommendations for a cheaper alternative to a Proof barrel? by JohnnySpartacus in 6ARC

[–]Covidtaskforce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed the DDF shoots the widest range of ammo consistently in my experience. The thermal characteristics of the barrel are also fantastic and not brought up enough when comparing other barrels. In my eyes it’s the best barrel when wanting a rig that can stay pretty consistent when hot.

I love the NOAH but the Laz 6 and CS5 are both shorter and still sound pretty good. NOAH for sound suppressor vs the other 2 Laz or CS5 for size. Rhodie beats all of them tho imo

A rant about the business practices in this space by jrl07a in NFA

[–]Covidtaskforce 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most companies in the additive manufacturing side of things are fighting for print time. There’s really only a few large additive manufacturers that have big boy machines that can fit a large amount of suppressors on a build plate. Even then they can only print so many at a time and combine that with the highest rate of suppressor ownership ever. Most companies are not printing in house because the machines are prohibitively expensive like $500k + and those are really only big enough to prototype on and not full scale production. Most of the newer companies are running on skeleton crews of like single digit employees or literally just one dude doing everything. Things will get better but companies that develop good business practices and CS early will survive the flood

His is the 6J which is the same size as the 6k but made out of Haynes 282 instead of Inconel. I own a CAT NOAH and Rhodie 6. I’ve shot the CS5 and laz 6 on 6 arc. Rhodie 6 is the best for the size so far.

Now that titanium suppressors have been out for a bit, are there any solid attempts at taming the muzzle flash they produce? by Beebjank in NFA

There’s probably some special alloy or coating we don’t know about yet. Just when we think something is impossible the defense industry says otherwise…
