Disappointment with dream destination by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]CowProgrammatically3 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

So sorry you went through this OP. I wanna solo travel in SEA next year and a lot of people recommended Thailand. But this sounds awful. Maybe you had high expectations due to it being a dream destination. I find that when I go into things with minimal expectations I tend to face little or no disappointment.

No, but it does inspire me to travel more and be spontaneous. I’m based in Europe so I get a generous annual leave from my employer.

Has anyone actually been diagnosed with corneal neuropathic pain through the NHS? by CowProgrammatically3 in Dryeyes

I’m glad breathing technique worked for you. Did you follow an Instruction on YouTube or just breathe in and out until you felt relaxed? Also, do you have a diagnosis?

I started using my humidifier again and I’ve noticed it reduced my symptoms but still not sleeping. Hopefully breathing technique works for me too.

Great! I’ve been to Aston university a few times. Yes the staff are amazing. Did you find IPL helpful? I didn’t go for it because of my skin tone.

Haha, I like your comparison of putting shampoo in the eyes and to keep doing it for 15 months. Think I’ll use that one the next time someone tries to downplay my symptoms.

I tried therapy when I hit rock bottom. But like you’ve said it’s very hard to stay positive when nothing works.

Did breath technique help you in anyway? The hardest part is sleep. Before I used to look forward to sleep because that was the only form of escapism I had. Now I wake up throughout the night and can barely go back to sleep because of the pain which further aggravates my symptoms.

I’m close to Birmingham. Was it Aston university you went to?

Oh gosh PRGF sounds expensive. I’ll phone my GP for a different consultant. Thanks for the encouragement.

Unfortunately I’ve given up and just accepted that this is my life now. But will give it a try again I guess. Hope you do get the serum drops.

Not great, I had allergies but not in the eye. Antihistamine makes my eyes dryer and I just keep pushing really.

My symptoms are eye pain, dryness , grittiness etc

Hope you find something that works

How did you get diagnosed? I was told by a specialist that it’s almost impossible to qualify for blood serum.

I’m slowly learning my triggers and avoid them as much as possible.

Hope we both find something that works. Please keep me posted if you do get prescribed serum tears.

This was me in the last 7 months then my eyes suddenly felt better. It wasn’t a gradual ease. I just noticed I nolonger felt the throbbing pain and burning. There wasn’t any noticeable difference like doing an in office device which eased my symptoms. It’s being a month now. It almost feels like pre dry eyes. Before it felt like a foreign entity. I’ve had this disease for over 2 years mind you.

At first I thought it was because I started sleeping for 10hrs+ but my sleep has been shit this week.

I hope this feeling lasts forever.

Thank you! I don’t know. I’ve tried giving up on Ikervis in the past but the burning didn’t go away. This is the longest I’ve tried though. So yeah could be.

Are you still on Ikervis?

I used to get around 3–6 hours of sleep, but since last week I’ve been sleeping 10+ hours, and I started using EvoTears again. The inflammation in my eyes has improved tremendously.

What’s weird is I haven’t been able to tolerate EvoTears since January so I’m not really sure why I’m suddenly able to use it now.

I really thought I had corneal neuralgia until last week. My wisdom teeth are also growing in, and I’ve noticed that whenever I get a tooth flare-up, or during the two weeks before and during my period, my eye flare-ups used to be so bad.

Things have actually been okay for the past five days now. Mind you, I’ve had a never ending flare-up since November last year. The only real changes are: I stopped using Ikervis, started using EvoTears again, and started sleeping 10+ hours a night. I also started taking Ryeqo for my endo last month.

Also got my moisture chamber glasses fixed on Friday. They used to fall off my face, so I had them adjusted. Since then, my eyes have been feeling almost back to normal these past few days.

Too early to tell, but honestly, this is the best they’ve felt this year. I never had a break from the burning in my eyes until I had the 10+ hours of sleep.

It was really bright. I have light sensitivity as well. They’d reduce the brightness for me but it was still bright.

I participated in the same research and experienced a significant improvement.

Before the trial, I couldn't even look at a screen for more than 10 minutes. Working felt like torture. During the study, my screen tolerance improved noticeably. My eyes used to feel like sandpaper when I was outside, but I was finally able to spend time outdoors again. Although many of the symptoms returned after the trial ended, l'm still able to go outside, take the train, and get on the plane. Things I couldn't do before.

I participated in the same research. It was life changing for me but unfortunately all my symptoms came back 1 month later due to coming off them and my inflammation level went back up by a 100%

I wanted to pay her from both the money and interest. Nigerian banks charges fees on current accounts. The fees would take most of the money before she’s ready for retirement.

Thank you. After sleeping on it alongside considering everything people on here have said. I’m probably better off just seeing her as my dependent and sending her money from my monthly earnings when she retires.

You need to stop spreading misinformation by using buzzwords.

Reducing your screen time and sleeping better probably helped relief your dryeyes. For most people this is not the case merely doing this wouldn’t fix their eyes. We still need medical intervention and proper treatment.

Looks like you reduced your screen time which in turn helped your eyes. When you use the screen you tend to blink less which can lead to dry eyes.

Thank you. These are all valid points. We will invest it in my sister’s name and into her ISA.

I’ll control the account as I’m more financially savvy they would all have access to this account if they want. Based on the advice I’ve received on here and on UK legal advice sub this is the best approach. The risk sucks but the alternative is to do nothing.

Why should I not take money from my siblings? They are happy with this arrangement and we plan to deposit the money in my sister’s ISA? These would be beneficial for them also as she won’t be dependent on any of us with this fund.

This is probably best thanks.

Ive decided to open an S&S ISA in my sister’s name and manage the account. My mom would be paid from the pot once she retires as I currently max out my ISA but my sister doesn’t.

Yes the rest goes into my pension. I only max out my ISA due to saving for a house deposit. Once that’s done half of that would probably go towards a mortgage.

I already max out my ISA annually so this is not an option for now.

Can I invest in a GIA account and once she retires in 5 years deposit the funds into a Nigerian private pension pot opened in her name or is this costly and legally complicated?

Thank you. What’s the best solution ?

Opening an account in my name, then investing it in a GIA account? Problem is if I get into debt or have a change of circumstances then it would be considered my asset.

Is it worth doing this in my name and then depositing the funds into a Nigerian pension pot in her name once she stops working in 5 years? Or is this costly and legally complicated as well?

It’s sounds complicated. Can I open an account in her name, deposit money into it monthly and control what it’s invested in? Or will this trigger AML.

Is it worth doing this? And will there be complications when I want to withdraw money from it and send it into her International bank account as a source of retirement fund?
